Your Ryu will jump to another evolutionary branch if your luck (measured in stars on the Edit Profile page) isn't high enough. However:

Unfortunately, even a full 5 stars doesn't guarantee an evolution instead of a branch-hop. It maxes out your chance for it, but it's not guaranteed.

5 stars is 100% luck. Anything less than 100% is rounded down.

Thanks, @(you need an account to see links)! I've modified the code to treat luck between 95-100% as 100% when evolving. This is also reflected in the lucky stars. When you have 4.5 stars, your luck is 94% or lower.

They're tied to luck in the sense that your Ryugotchi will have to evolve upward instead of sideways enough times to qualify for the perk! Higher luck greatly improves the chances of an upward evolution, so keeping your stars maxed is beneficial in that regard.

The stars are new, and if they're maxed out, then you're pretty much guaranteed an evolution within the same branch when the time comes!

Noticed a few days ago my dragon evolved from stage 2 to stage 3 dragon As much as I want to do the other ryu lines for the scenes I'm going to keep my fully evolved dragon for a while!

usually its about 20ish days to evolve so if the bunny is kept through April then maybe? keep those hearts up and go for it!
