1. No, they absolutely give no f's about trades. Nothing you do will make this pet look legit to TNT if it's an unknown, inactive UC.
2. I would recommend no less then six months if you're going to be flat out featuring it in something like the Beauty Contest. Even more if you can keep your hands off it longer.
3. Depending on the seller, minimal to none. The only things that generally get your pet taken away is someone reporting you because they saw it or they're suspicious of you. There are pets that don't even have original owners that are available for sale as well.
4. Hiding them is fine, I don't know that it's a bannable offense though. I'm sure it would be suspicious if TNT checked if someone reported you, but then, you probably wouldn't get reported because no one can see the pet. If you're going to hide it, I would hide it for at least 3+ months before showing it and waiting another 3+ months to do BC, if not more.
Also, I sell pets <3

I've been on hiatus for years and I was last active in 2014-2015, but I've gotten back into the swing of things in the last two months. Here's what I've noticed.
1) Would faking a trade make the acquisition of this pet more believable to TNT?
- Nobody can really know this for sure, so IMO these kinds of questions are just...really difficult for clraik to answer.
I'm of the general belief that right now, TNT isn't very attentive unless a) your IP has been associated with a lot of frozen accounts, or b) the seller's IP has been associated with a lot of frozen accounts. The latter outcome happens when the seller is really sloppy with their stock.
To be honest though, lately I've noticed that a lot of things can slide past the radar before you're frozen. Take that with a grain of salt but that's just my opinion from someone who used to get tens of mains frozen just for logging into them, in the height of my illegit heyday xD These days I've done some "crazy" things that most people warn against and haven't been frozen. *knock on wood*
2) How long should I wait before entering art of this pet in the BC?
-Doesn't matter IMO. Anyone's free to disagree with me.
Actually, there are trade/ip logs that should be cleared out before it's considered safe to put the spotlight on your pet, but nobody knows when this happens. Could be three months, could be six, but I'd echo Kylae's suggestion of 6 months!
3) What's the likelihood of the original owner coming back to Neo and reporting the pet stolen? What should I do if this occurs? (I know an answer to this would be difficult but I can't help but ask bc it's literally my biggest fear here lol)
- I don't want to cuck any other sellers but I know 100% for sure that if you buy from @(you need an account to see links), the chances are very very low. Most of her stock has been inactive and secured for literally 5+ years to this day. The only time that this kind of thing happens is if, again, your seller is really sloppy and they've sold you a semi-active. If this happens you're pretty much SOL.
4) My ULs are coded with pictures + links to my pets rather than the standard #userneopet module, so I could keep this pet hidden for a time. Would that be recommended or is that another freezable offense?
- Doesn't matter IMO. TNT doesn't check these things. If you get the banhammer for doing so, it's because someone reported you.
Nobody has a reason to report you unless you're an asshole.

While you wait to put it on your page maybe make a project page for your pet and wear it? I'm thinking of doing this with my UC
