[Guide] How to unlock and care for a Ryugotchi + Ryu Master List (inc. non-actives)

So ever since my experiment with making the userbar inactive and finding out they can still poop, and also Bat's comment that Ryu can die, but the parent can interact to reincarnate... I feel like it's inevitable that a Ryu owner will get banned, the userbar automatically removed, and the Ryu orphan will die, hidden in account settings, unable to be revived.

And I can't stop thinking about it.

That's an interesting observation. I didn't want the Ryugotchis to be just another userbar that users could just collect and discard, so I built in consequences for neglecting them. Your luck depletes, and it becomes unlikely to impossible for your Ryugotchi to evolve. It would have to be treated well through a reincarnation cycle to make up for the luck deficit in order to evolve later. Certain scenes are tied to later evolutions as well. We've also planned to utilize the stats we've collected to reward users with relevant userbars in the future, so it pays to love your Ryus!

I wonder if Ryus could get up to 0 hearts within just 8 hours of being offline (for instance when you're at work or you're asleep)? I have helped a few Ryus recently up from zero hearts and 3/4 poops and their owners seemed to be reasonably active users too. For that reason I'm a little nervous if my Ryu has accidentally reached 0 hearts before.

At some point someone wondered if there was some background related to the death of our Ryu and it seemed really cruel that something like this could happen.
Completely ruled out any attempt to verify that theory.

I feel like this contains a lot of really cool information that I am glad to have, so thank you, but I am not necessarily reassured about my fears mentioned above? I do totally get that there's rewards and incentives for hard work, so obviously a banned user doesn't deserve reward, but I can't help but feel like the Ryu itself is collateral damage, but maybe this is just me being the type of kid who cried when I threw out napkins with butterflies on the because I was "killing" them.


Am I allowed to ask if luck differs if a Ryu is being cared for by their parent vs somebody else?

God, there's so much to be discovered, still.

We can always post on the Ryu Buddy System thread. Whenever I can, I review the complete parent list once a day. No Ryu will perish while I'm on duty.

Until a moment ago, there was a glitch in the code that resurrected Ryugotchis for bed time! They weren't dead as long as they were in bed. Whoops!

It's a cruel world for neglected Ryus. Just like the abandoned Digimon, Nanos and Tamagotchis we've left in our dressers, desks and storage bins, a Ryugotchi will fizzle out if they're discarded.

Fortunately, the vast majority of you are doing an excellent job taking care of your and each other's Ryus. That community outreach is going to result in a lot of high-luck evolutions when the time comes! Whether it's you, or other folks in the community - every little bit helps!
