    MapleStory in 2024/2025

Recently, someone mentioned MapleStory in one of their posts so it got me curious to see how the game has been doing, and to my surprise, it's blown up (again) over the last few years.

It looks like there's so much more to do in this game now, and now is a great time to dive back in. I've skimmed through the video above and it's got my interest...

Does anyone still play? Please share your game experiences if you still do, and why others should tag along!

I don't play personally but my younger brother, who is very much an outdoors guy who barely sit in front of a computer, still finds time just to play Maple Story. He says it's much more enjoyable now then it was in the past.

Personally I only played in the very early days, and whenever I see him play I feel like I wouldn't enjoy it since it kinda nothing like what I remember haha. But if you played here and there since all of the big changes I feel like there is a good chance you'll like it!

Ahh Maplestory, where to really begin? I guess I can start off by saying that I still play. Originally started playing back in 2008/2009? Played for a couple of years on and off, but one year when I tried launching it stopped working, so I lost interest entirely. It wasn't until a couple of years ago where a few of my friends ended up playing again so I decided to redownload the game and magically I was able to get back onto the game. We all played for about a year before we all stopped playing again, but after about 6 months, I got the interest of playing again and I haven't stopped playing since.

As far as my game experiences, over the past year or so there have been so many leveling events, as well as new events that continue to keep me hooked. Before, leveling up would take HOURS, but there are some events, like the one right now called Hyper Burning, where for each level you gain, you gain an additional 2 levels, but come in roughly 6 months, that will be changing to an additional 4 levels for each level you gain. This 'triple' level up will be available up until level 260, which is right at the start of the recently introduced, 6th Job. Though you are limited to only create a limited amount of characters to Hyper Burn, but these types of events seem like they occur quite frequently. Let's say that you've already created your two characters to Hyper Burn, leveling up is still a breeze because the game rewards you with so much leveling potions that it's possible to hit level 200 within a day. Before level 200 was the goal and people saw that as the end game, now level 200 is just the start of the game.

Now I didn't watch the video that was posted above, but this is what I have to say as far as some of my experiences on Maplestory. The server that's currently popular is Reboot - Kronos, which is where I reside/play. Now what I believe makes this server really active, is the progression. The difference between Reboot Servers and Regular Servers is that on Reboot, there is ZERO types of trading, all of your progression is based on yourself, scrolling is removed, all gear that you receive is bound to your character, and a few other things. Now I know that you may be thinking, 'Why would anyone want to play on a type of server that limits you?', well to answer that or at least my personal answer, I had that same question, and for me, progressing gear ended up being so much easier than it was on Regular Servers, I didn't have to think about which scrolls to buy from other players to enhance my gear, I didn't have to worry about swiping my credit card to purchase NX (cosmetic items) to sell on the auction house, just to repurchase items that have better stats, etc. On Reboot, you're able to enhance your gear with the click of a button and you'll basically get the more beneficial results compared to what you would have to go through on Regular Servers.

Originally I had played for the nostalgia factor, but after returning over a year ago, I've been really enjoying the game and progressing as far as I currently have. Some people return to Maplestory for the nostalgia factor, while others may return for a different reason. I actually have a friend who has never played Maplestory before, and it wasn't until earlier in 2024, where some of my other friends ended up somehow convincing her to play and she has ended up enjoying the game due to the NX cosmetics that the game has to offer. Another one of our friends was convinced to play because he was looking for a game to grind, and he compared it to Lost Ark, and stated that on Maplestory, you can actually see the progression compared to Lost Ark. Personally for me it really helps when you're able to play with a group of friends, that's what has really kept me playing the game. Being able to play the game with my friends and progress together through all of these 'End Game' bosses have been really fun. Being able to play with them I think that I'll be able to continue playing for more years to come.

There's so much more I feel like I can talk about, but I don't want to get overly carried away, and I'm pretty sure that the video covered a good chunk of stuff, but to anyone who does still actively play or sparks an interest in playing, feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions!

    TL;DR
Maplestory has been such a great game to pass time and mindlessly play to level up your character and slowly get stronger over time. The community on Maplestory has been amazing and everyone on the server, Reboot - Kronos, helps everyone out, you really just have to put yourself out there and ask. It also helps if you join a guild, as there are plenty of guilds always recruiting players and I'm sure they would be more than happy to help out new players. There are also plenty of resources outside of the game that are super helpful to get you started on your Maplestory journey as well!

I played some v.98 private servers during covid. I can't imagine learning all the new stuff but watching the video now.
