hi all, i somehow logged into this ancient account. am feeling a bit overwhelmed by all that's here. where do you spend your time on here? what should i check out? what's changed over the years?

also, i was maybe interested in learning how to write a userscript. i think it'd be cute given how i learned html and photoshop to play neopets back in the day. do any of you have some suggested of some good guides for where to start learning? i don't have much coding experience.

I spent time depending on what my mood is. Sometimes I feed ryu's like I'm Florence bloody Nightingale. Sometimes I look at easy trophies. A lot of the time, I just like to chat. So I just chat.

I have no idea about userscripts sorry, but I'm sure if you search something will turn up

If you wanna learn how to create userscripts you're gonna have to start by learning javascript! JS is... a huge pain in the arse. In my opinion. As a for some reason professional developer... lol

But it is worth learning! If you're starting from basics I recommend w3 schools (you need an account to see links)

I don't know the best way to learn to write scripts if you don't already know how to code. Maybe you could try going to (you need an account to see links) and picking an easier script and then pasting it into chat gpt and asking it to explain it to you. Anything you don't understand.... just ask chatgpt. I'm not sure how effective this approach would be but it's what I would do if I was new and just wanted to jump in!

i typically look around at posts that havent been responded to- and if i can provide positive feedback i try! if not i usually skip especially if i have no idea what im talking about.

i havent seen a US guide that im aware of but lots of people are willing to share their knowledge!

There's quite a lot of content here for you to digest, but perhaps it's best to do it slowly and to not try and do too much at once. Perhaps going through the (you need an account to see links) (first forum section available to you) is a good start? You can see a lot of updates over the years.

Maybe also look into userbar collecting if you're into that stuff and feel like adding some flair to your profile around here! Cheers ~

Userbars collecting and Ryu caring are definitely two big things you can do here, which a lot of people like and participate in every day

As for userscripts, yeah, it's basically programming in JS. I'm not sure if you can jump right in without learning basic programming principals in general, but... you can always try!

I guess the forum can be pretty overwhelming.
I think a good way to start learning to write scripts is maybe just installing and looking at some that is already here.

These days with AI you can just learn the basics and ask ai to assist.
