I also hope they'll adapt more into the catching system of Legends Arceus. It was so much fun because I play games like MGS and my go to method for knocking out guards was tranqing the back of their heads. I now do the same with catching pokemon; sneak, throw pokeball at back of head, catch, success. It's so much fun. They kept some of that for Scarlet and Violet at least. Catch them off guard but not catch them. I feel like SV was their test game to see what direction they should go in. Definitely overworld pokemon, sneak and catch for me.
The problem with gen 2 is the Kanto part makes it unbalanced. In a regular series by the time you get to the 8th gym you're at level ~60. In HGSS you get to the final gym of Johto in the 30s at best.

With a little reworking they could fix it. But this is all wishful thinking, it's never going to be a full blown remake lol.

b-b-b-ut I need the full remake of gen 2 for the big screen so they can do it for gen 3 as well....my favorite region lol. If only.

Another thing I was thinking is that if they don't want to make these remakes fully open world with actual size characters....what's stopping them from doing good looking 16bit art style? And most RPG's have you fight with more than one monster/person at a time. Would be nice if Gamefreak casually switched everything to double battles. Hot take but it would be more interesting.
