I am a bit similar, I think! I used to go watch everything that had buzz but nowadays I'm much more particular, especially if a movie is gonna have bad vibes and take me out for a few days emotionally. I also skip movies I don't find interesting now too. For example, I think I'm skipping Zone of Interest and Saltburn this year (though Saltburn is free with Amazon Prime so hmm)
saltburn was the biggest waste of time! i watched it today expecting something crazy but it was so incredibly boring lol

    i like plushie tonu & making silly art ૮ ˶ᵔ ᴥ ᵔ˶ ა

I love awards season, I'm a huge movie guy. I'm assuming this year Barbie and Oppenheimer take most things, with some surprise wins from Maestro - maybe even Bradley Cooper beating Cilian Murphy to best actor. Which is a shame, I'm a huge Cilian Murphy fan since Peaky blinders.

    Which movie was it!

I *really* hope Bradley Cooper does not beat Cillian. Cillian is so good in everything he does! I know Bradley wants an Oscar SO BAD (since A Star is Born he's been vying for it), but gaaahh. I also hope Cillian beats out Leo!

Saltburn is a slow burn of a film. Literally, it is over two hours long. While not perfect overall, it is still quite good and the story was enjoyable and led me to saying "My therapist will hear about this" out loud in the theatre LOL.

I completely forgot about Leo and Killers of the Flower Moon.. That might sneak a few awards in.

1917! I was OBSESSED with that movie in 2020. It's one of my comfort movies.

Re: Bradley Cooper and Cillian Murphy, same. I've been following Cillian's filmography since 2003 or 2004 (whenever it was that I first watched 28 Days Later), and I'm so glad that he's finally getting the recognition he deserves.

Oh man! That movie was so beautifully shot I do remember it. I'm surprised you say it's a comfort movie!

    ALSO

    BAFTA longlists are out:
(you need an account to see links)

    My thoughts:
    - So nice to see Teo Yeo getting recognition in Lead Actor (I hope he makes it through!)
    - No Charles Melton for Supporting Actor (or Natalie for Lead Actress?)
    - Feeling meh about the Maestro callouts, but I'm pretty cool on this clear Oscar grab in general
    - Joe Hisaishi missing for Score is :'( I am MANIFESTING this Oscar nom for him

I rarely watch TV so I'm not sure about any of those awards, but otherwise I felt that the movie awards were quite fair with no major upsets. I was prayer circle-ing career achievement GG for Joe Hisaishi, but Ludwig had a great score as well.
