[GUIDE] Pokemon S/V: Mewtwo Raid EASY Wins Strategy

Pokémon S/V: Mewtwo 7-Star Raid Guide

The 7-Star Mewtwo Raid is finally live, and will be until 11:59pm on the 17th of September, 2023. When 7-Star raids come around, there is usually a buzz with multiple strategies and numerous optimal Pokémon that can be used.

But this time, there is only one, Mew.

    This is due to a special buff that Mew will receive. Luckily, any Mew you use will give you the buff, even your shiny one's from Pokémon GO. If you don't have a Mew, there's currently a Mystergy Gift active which will give you one (more on this below). When you enter the raid with a Mew, you will see the following message appear;

"Mew is going to go all out against this formidable opponent!"

What this will do is give Mew a 50% HP buff, and a 20% buff in all other stats, making it the strongest Pokémon to use for this raid.

Another thing to note is this is by far the most difficult raid we've had so far. It is impossible to do solo, and the only real way to do it efficiently is with a group of four players, each with a Mew built for a specific purpose.

I've made a new thread for this guide as it's a bigger, different, and far more difficult raid than we've seen before. It also will go on for a longer time, and will have to be done with groups of 3-4 players, and not solo. In this guide I will go into the build and strategy of the Mew's required for each player to get this raid done - I've personally used this strat with friends and it works every time. This will cover all the important aspects, such as:

    - How to get a Mew
    - Mew Builds
    - How to build a Raid Ready Mew
    - Strategy to beat the 7-Star Mewtwo Raid

    Checklist

Make sure you have these items before you start your Mew builds.

    - PP Up/PP Max (boost PP of all moves; obtainable in raids or Chansey Supply)
    - Metronome (increasing damage from same move; sold in Levincia Delibird Presents)
    - Light Clay (extends duration of light screens; sold in Cascarrafa Delibird Presents)
    - Bottle Caps (found in Delibird Presents shop in either Mesagoza, Cascarrafa, or Levincia)
-Adamant/Timid Mints (found in raids and in Chansey Supply stores)

NOTE: PP MAX ALL MOVES - Only the attackers need to tera!! Before starting this difficult raid, please ensure your team have the correct builds, and are fully aware of their roles!

    Mew Builds

    Attack Build

    Mew
    Held Item: Metronome
    Ability: Synchronize
    Tera Type: Bug
    EVs: 252 HP / 196 Atk / 4 Def / 4 SpD / 52 Spe
    Nature: Adamant
    Moves
    - Life Dew
    - Struggle Bug
    - Swords Dance
    - Leech Life

    Support Build

    Mew
    Held Item: Light Clay
    Ability: Synchronize
Tera Type: Bug/Psychic preferably, or Any
    EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SpD
    Nature: Timid
    Moves
    - Light Screen
    - Struggle Bug
    - Misty Terrain
    - Life Dew

    Building a Raid Ready Mew

Step 1: Redeem your own Mew
Mew is currently available for free. Simply connect online to PokéPortal. Select Mystery Gift, then select Get with Code/Password. Enter the code GETY0URMEW.
Skip this if you already redeemed it. Alternatively, any Mew you have from other games in Pokemon Home will also work for this raid exactly the same way as long as it's built correctly.

Step 2: EV train your Mew
The fastest way to fully EV train Mew is feed it vitamins such as Protein. Feathers come second. Training while holding Power items is last. Be mindful of which to use as they are stat-specific.
If you opt to train by knocking out wild Pokémon, make Mew hold the correct Power item, stay in party and let your strongest Pokémon KO the correct wild spawns in Area Zero.
Each stat can gain only 252 EVs max, which means only two stats can max out since the grand total EVs a Pokémon can gain is only 510. I won't go into the details of EV training in this guide, a full explanation how EVs work exactly can be found in various guides online.

Step 3: Change Mew’s Tera Type to Bug (Only for Attackers)
If your Mew has any tera type other than Bug, and you plan to build it as attacker, you may need to gather 50 Bug tera shards in order to change the tera type. Knock out Bug tera raids and Blissey event raids for a chance at several Bug tera shards. You need 50x of them to change your Mew's tera type.
Once you have collected 50, fly to Medali. Look for the restaurant where you first battled Gym Leader Larry. Approach the cook and request tera change.
Mew in a complete Support role may have little to no use for terastallization. You can skip this step if you plan to use your Mew as a support to skip terastallizing in Mewtwo raids at all for this reason.

    Step 4: Hypertrain your Mew
Mew gets 3 random Best IVs. The other stats may need to be hypertrained in order to get max of 31 making Mew stronger.
You have the option to use either Gold Bottle Cap, which is more expensive usually, or Bottle Cap 3x (found in Delibird Presents shop in either Mesagoza, Cascarrafa, or Levincia), which hypertrains only one stat.
Gather enough bottle caps and fly to Montenevera. Look for the NPC accompanied by Abomasnow just behind the Pokémon Center. Mew must be level 50 or higher to be hypertrained.

Step 5: Use Exp Candy or Rare Candy to boost Mew’s level to 100
Currently, various 5-star event raids are available around your map. Knocking out a dozen Blissey raids is sometimes sufficient enough to get you enough exp candies to make Mew level 100.

    Step 6: Change Mew’s nature
Changing Mew’s nature is crucial as the 10% stat difference can make a difference in your raid performance.
Mints are available in Chansey Supply stores for 20k each. Or farm tera raids for a chance at free Mints instead.
When using Mint, watch carefully where the blue and red indicators in your Pokémon’s stats move. Nature written in summary will remain unchanged, which is normal and intentional.
Attackers go for Adamant Nature, Supports go for Timid Nature.

    Step 7: Build Mew’s moveset
You will need Pokémon materials in order to craft TMs. Check the TM craft machine in Pokémon Center which materials you need.
In Gen 9, all moves learned by level or TMs can be relearned anytime. Simply go to summary, move list and click Remember A Move.
Remember to boost PP of some important moves such as Leech Life using PP Max or 3 PP Up. PP Up can be purchased in Chansey Supply stores for 20k each.
Removing and relearning moves will reset PP amount.

    Strategy

Finally the part we've been waiting for. Remember your roles and stick to the plan! Make sure you have a group of 4x Mew's, consisting of 1x Support build Mew, and 3x Attack Build Mew's.

    3x Attacker Mew: Bug Tera
Start out with 3x Struggle Bugs and terastallize as soon as you can - usually in 2-3 turns.
Use Swords Dance 3x, then spam Leech Life. Wait for a heal from your support Mew if you get low, or use Life Dew.
When stats get reset on Mewtwo's side, use struggle bug 1-3 times to lower it's SpAtk. When it resets stats on your side, then use Swords Dance 3x, and then spam Leech Life until you win.

    1x Support Mew: Light Clay
Setup Light Screen on turn 1, then spam Struggle Bug
Check the stats menu (y button) periodically to check if Light Screen is still up. If it isn’t, then use Light Screen again. Make sure you don't go a single turn without Light Screen active.
Use Misty Terrain a couple turns before the shield goes down to block rest - This is a very important step, don't fail.
Main focus should be to keep Light Screen active, to keep Mewtwo’s SpAtk low with Struggle Bug spam, and use heals from the cheer menu to keep everyone alive, it is imperative that you prevent anyone from fainting!

    Conclusion

If you do everything right you should have Mewtwo beaten in your first go. Don't worry about the timer as this raid lasts much longer than others. Just make sure you don't faint and that everyone's Mew's are built correctly. As an added bonus, the Mew you use to beat the raid will also receive the Unrivaled Mark! Hope this helps everyone beat the Mewtwo raid!

This is super helpful, thank you for putting this together! I’ll need to quickly build my Mew and get a group of others to try this raid out. 7 stars is insane. I struggle enough with 5 as it is 🥲
