I gotta learn how to use it with a modern set up (I researched before buying and it's not as bad as it sounds.)
So it will be a little bit until I can actually post anything
I still need to get a few cables that I can afford next month.
But I knew if I didn't buy this now it'd be gone later because of the condition it's in at the price point it was at.

That sounds really cool. Please do post the results, I love synths. One of my favorite bands (the Protomen) relies heavily on synths as well and it makes them sounds so unique. I suspect they'd sound like any other band if they didn't tbh, but with it it just completes the whole vibe/sound. Loved watching them do it live last March in Amsterdam

I do have a youtube channel but I'm only emulating the SC-55 at this current time, been wanting a real one a lot longer than I've been uploading, and I've read the owner's manual PDF more times than I want to admit. I only own a Casio SA-20 right now that I got for free out of a hoarder house and cleaned up but someone stabbed the hell out of it. But I've had that for a few years and it's mostly just a toy I like to play with more than I'd call it real equipment.
I can't compose my own music yet, so I edit existing MIDI (I use SynthFont), or sometimes just upload straight up game files that used midi natively and try to make them sound as much like a real SC-55's playback as I can, sometimes with editing sometimes without. (I got to this point just obsessing over the SC-55 and making edits for myself to listen to because I exhausted every listening option out there years ago. the MU80 and SC-55 comparison videos were what sold me on wanting to make my own though.) so I do mostly midi editing and using soundfonts to emulate the SC-55 for my own entertainment (and chiptunes for fun cus I like those too.)

I am a noob in the grand scheme of producing your own music. But, I want to be known for making originals with the SC-55 so I'm learning to read and write sheet music in hopes it makes composing original midi easier. (For context I only started doing editing in 2020 as my pandemic hobby and it exploded into an obsession)
When I was a kid I thought that synths were guitar distortion and didn't even comprehend what a GS midi sound module was or that the sort of thing was possible.

It slaps the brain in just the right ways like nothing else can.
