Obscure Anime/Manga Recommendations?

Hey! I'm looking for some new stuff to read and watch, so if you have a series to rec I'd really appreciate it! I really enjoy fantasy genres, especially dark fantasy, as well as stuff from before the 2000s, but I'm open to pretty much anything. I just only ask not to rec anything available on a streaming service like Netflix or Hulu.

Saiyuki is one of my favorite mangas and has had a recent print rerelease by Kodansha. It's a take on the Journey to the West story, I definitely recommend it for dark fantasy. ETA - oh lord and how could I forget. Pandora Hearts if you want some fantasy that is trippy and real grim. There was an anime release of it but it was comically low budget and barely gets into the story, I recommend the manga over it.

Blue Exorcist is pretty dark, great visuals as well. But maybe not that obscure though. Thought I'd put it out there anyway

Im a odd ball so i did recommend some awesome chinese anime / donghua xD instead of animes Lol ( but this 3 are the big guns in chinese anime )

Seconding Alister for Saiyuki - great action, characters, a historical but fantasy/magic vibe, although nowadays it can be seen a bit retro in aesthetics and such. But it really is a great classic and I don't think it falls into the trap of being for a more adolescent age group. (Making me really want to reread it personally it's been so long xD)

I'm not sure about where these are streamed at, if they are at all (I pirate everything ), so I'm sorry if they are on Netflix / Hulu...

For anime, I def recommend Bamboo Blade. It's a slice of life sports anime from 2008, so not dark nor fantasy, but I think it's a really good one with great character and comedy.
For the fantasy recommendation, I'll go with Rental Magica. I watched it years ago but I remember it being pretty good, and I never met anyone else who watched it so it is obscure for sure lmao

Uff Berserk it's definitely obscure at least the first seasons are harsh. I'm not sure where it's streaming for the anime though.

Utena it's been si long since I re wached, could never fully understand all the symbolic stuff
