I get where you are coming from, I really do. And yes. I agree. Sorcerers stone is probably one of the best on in the series imo. Probably because it's so cosy and not yet so dark ^^

Probably a boring answer but the first two that came to mind was:
Empire Strikes Back and Terminator 2

Although Empire is in a funny spot where that only applies if you look at the original trilogy hah

Princess Diaries 2 is way better than Princess Diaries 1! While the first one is a classic, the second one's humor is funnier, the love triangles are better acted, and in general it's less cringey. It's one of my favorite movies when I want something low energy and need cheering up.

I did not have an answer to this question until Across the Spider-verse came out.

Now whether that speaks to the quality of the movie or the scanty amount of exposure I have to film sequels...

Yeah it's cosy for sure! I love it too, but the first two are the ones I watch the least. And Order of the Phoenix lol.

100% Agree on Empire. I love the vibe of it, everyones always traveling in space ships and the Yoda bits are amazing. But that's also because now New Hope feels unnecessarily draggy with scenes that go on too long, like 3PO and R2 walking through the desert for 25 minutes.

Actually have to agree with you a bit. I do watch the first one the least, especially chamber of secrets. But I do really enjoy Order of The Phoenix lol. Half Blood Prince is probably my favourite right now. Probably because I've seen that one the least times ^^

Order of the Phoenix is only disappointing for me because it was my favourite book, and the movie didn't even come close. Half Blood Prince is one of my favourites as well, it's long, but feels purposefulm and is also cosy at times lol. My favourites in no order would be 3, 4, 6, 7pt2

I agree Spider -man 2 definitly

Lord of the rings I feel all of them is kind of in the same range. I cant really say one is better than another.
Its also hard to judge Harry Potter but part of me think the acting definitely got better as the children grew. I specifically love number 3

Yes, Pirate of the Caribbean. I think the fact that some middle ones are better than the first is the main reason so many was made.

I know this is not equals but I LOVE the real life versions of the disney moves that is coming out

Personally, I think Frozen 2 is so much better than Frozen 1.

Mad Max sequels definitely got better as they came. The newest Fury Road being the best. Riddick got better imo but love the series in general.
Also probably unpopular opinion but the second Maze Runner was pretty extra awesome from the first.
