The story behind your cK Username

Hey everyone! This topic was revolving around my mind, so why not?

What's the reason you chose your actual username on ck?

Whether simple or not, larger or short, if you feel to share the origins/motivation for your ck pseudonym go ahead

My username is DarkSkies and I chose this one because my favorite animal are the wolves (as if not obvious lol) and I tend to relate them to the Moon, which happens to occur at nights which are also dark.

But I don't see the word "Dark" as something necessarily bad or scary, nights can be comfortable, quiet, fresh and let you appreciate different sources of light. Nights can make a great company too!

What's light without dark and vice versa?

That's my little pep talk. So... What about you?

And I've always loved the simplicity of the name, I've never had a 3-letter username.

I couldn't go with a lot of my usual theming because I'm paranoid about being identified offsite and my tastes are pretty niche. Spotify was playing while I was sitting there trying to figure out what the hell to make my username, and then Crooked Teeth by Death Cab for Cutie came on and I thought, "That's not a bad handle." And here we are today.

Mine is super random. WAY back when I made usernames on neo I_King_I and subsequently Royal, Duke, Baron, other random stuff. Clearly no sense of VWN usernames lol

I messed around a lot doing shady shit on neo and got all my stuff frozen. I then turned to Google to see what kind of neo cheats, hacks, etc I could find. Couldn’t find much. Created my own methods and did that for awhile before I found a forum.

As with any forum or other online thing, I picked a random name not associated with anything else and came up with I_royalty_I

The furthest back I can remember is gaminggutter. Then Darkztar, Metaplode, etc etc, and finally clraik!

I built up a name and reputation for myself on the first site I used and continued using that moving forward. Saw no need to change it and stuck with it all these years. Gotta be something like 15 years later now at this point. I’ve thought about changing it, but nostalgia.

Well, back in 2013, I started out with a username "Funn" with a sugar glider avatar because it honestly was the first word I thought of at the time when I registered haha. It was right after Tony PP froze my legit main account, and I had heard of ck before, so I joined.

After a while, I changed my username to "Brittany" because that's my name, and now I'm at "Buizel" because well:

Gotta be close to 15 now! I think I started on gaminggutter in 2008/2009. I believe I have a screenshot somewhere of my little blurb that showed up when I posted. I know I have one from Darkztar somewhere. Super throwbacks to old memories right there.

I used to be catalyst which was a handle I used in certain not-so-positive spaces online, and this place felt shady so it made sense. It ended up being kind of fitting because cheating on Neopets, even little things like trading iTunes gift cards for things, was sort of a very early step in the I-don't-have-to-be-good-at-everything-and-it's-okay-to-get-help-with-shit process. I took a break for a while and came back early 2020 and leaned in hard during the pandemic. I didn't want as much of the negative association but I wanted some sort of homage. At first I wanted another username that started with "cat" but I couldn't think of anything I liked and wasn't taken, so my logic was:

cat --> kitty
a --> ?
lyst --> list --> array

and then kittyray popped into my head and that was that.

For me, when I first registered back in 2015, I was previously known as 'BisexualDolphin' and how I came up with that name was 'Bisexual' was when I was first coming to terms with my sexuality and accepting of myself as a person, and Dolphin, well... to be quite honest I can't exactly remember why or how I chose that specific animal. All I do know is after returning to the forum and being more active, I sure did get a few messages from people saying that my UN made them laugh/put a smile on their face. ^^

Now with Kon, I've always wanted to have a short UN and well, Bleach was one of the first animes that I watched when I was younger and Kon was such an interesting character. When I was younger, I was so into Bleach that I had even changed my Myspace profile to 'Bleach/Ichigo' themed. Of course I grew out of that as I got older, and coming full circle, being able to have a short UN with a character from the first anime I watched just felt very fitting.

When I returned to clraik I already had an account that I had made years ago to lurk. But the username was somewhat identifiable so when I returned I didn't want to be posting with that username. So I was like "oh I'll just make a new account and post from that one"...I learned that's against the rules and got a warning But I wanted to get VIP anyway and found out you can pick a different username with VIP I just got that and had to think of something quick off the dome so I could change it and post. So it was kind of like an "I love...lamp" scenario where I just looked around the room and typed the first word that came to mind and wasn't identifiable to accounts etc. elsewhere.

I sought out Clraik after having a horrible time on the PC trading.. kept getting no thanks, good luck trading
It got to the point of it being such a pain, every time I saw it I gave an eye roll.
So therefore when joining, and starting to cheat the name NTYGLT became hilarious
