Yep, it's possible! If I remember correctly, the first time I joined the team I was a month old newbie hereanyway read the rules and submit your application!

Unless I missed something, it says a newbie account can still make the team if they make themselves a contributing member of the forum and have substantial interaction with the community!

It *can* happen, but that person joined last month and has very minimal interaction. Could it happen? Yes. Is it likely they will be accepted in? Unfortunately not, and that’s going off of my past years’ involvement and Joe’s earlier comments to others!

There's also the factor of users that only come back during the AC and post a lot to appear active. I'm glad that point was outlined since we see that happen a lot year after year. Basically, the guidelines outline everything pretty well, so be sure to shoot your shot so long as you follow them all!
I still say do not get frustrated or sad if you're not accepted either a newbie or not. Remember that ck is a community that above everything first priority is the safety of their members.
Taking that in consideration it's normal staff wants to make sure everyone has fun without worries since unfortunately many times there are lurkers with bad intentions.
If anyone gets a denial from joining on team ck think of it as a prompt to get a better member, a reason to be motivated to participate more in the forum, make it your goal to engage more little by little so next year you can join and I'll assure you it will be more fun because at that point who says you didn't make new friends?
Give a chance to ck by heart and rest will come
