Not pizza-related... but to those allergic to pineapple, they say that a ripe jackfruit tastes like a combination of pineapple, bananas and apples (some claim similarity to mangos as well). It is also completely unrelated to pineapples to my knowledge, so you shouldn't carry the allergy to it as well inherently. If you ever wanted a glimpse into what pineapple might taste like, that might be a good fruit to try instead.

Two notes though:

1. Ripe jackfruit and young/unripe jackfruit DO NOT taste the same. Ripe is sweet and fruity, while young is mostly tasteless and used in vegan dishes as a substitute for meat since it is fibrous (they even make jackfruit tacos).

2. A common way to eat ripe jackfruit is to chop it up and use it as a topping on ice cream.

So the basic Hawaiian Pizza (pineapple + ham) is okay, but is nothing in comparison to Pineapple + Bacon or Pineapple + Pepperoni.

While it's not my all-time favorite, a slice or two that has pineapple is a nice way to mix it up, especially at some type of pizza party. Whether at home, work, school, or wherever the pizzas are being served!

If you haven't tried it yet, don't disqualify it right away. You never know if it works with your taste pallet or not.

You are 100% correct. I have tried it with bacon and pepperoni and I love them as well! As I said, pineapple definitely belongs on pizza!

Wow, that is so cool! I had never heard of jackfruit! But now I am very interested in trying it! I wanna see if I can taste all three, pineapple, bananas, and apples! I love all of those fruits!

I very much hate sweet and salty together. I can't stand salted caramel or chocolate or yogurt covered pretzels! Super gross to me. But Pineapple on pizze, when the pineapple is cooked, it tastes more tangy and not so sweet!

I dont mind just ham alone but I dont like just pineapple alone, not sure why just do.
