If you’ve been around long enough you know I went through the casinos blackjack and poker “schools” and dealt plenty of casino card games.
My first time playing poker as a player and not a dealer was in Vegas at the bellagio at a $10/$20 table with $1000 minimum buy in. I got wiped after 2 hours by guys with like $20k stacks. I should have known going to the biggest casino in Vegas.
Today I played my first tourney at a local casino. $150 buy in, not bad at all. I got wiped at the final table, 6th place. Just barely out of the money. For those into poker, I had K 10 spade suited. Ace of spades and queen of clubs on the flop. Queen of spades on the turn… I had to go all in. Three way all in only for a 2 of diamonds. Killed me.
Anybody play poker? Any tips for doing better? Anybody into poker at all?
What's my definition of success?
Creating something no one else can
Being brave enough to dream big
Grindin' when you're told to just quit
Giving more when you got nothin' left
My ex taught me how to play poker, and during the early pandemic we spent many hours playing on a poker app. He'd play on higher value tables, I wreaked havoc on the baby tables. Idk how, but I was really good. My motto was "Go crazy go stupid", and I think that tactic, or lack thereof, confused the other players. I'd bluff randomly for shits and giggles, go all in with the shittiest hand ever, and spam emotes. Good times.
Tried to get my family into poker, because I preferred playing irl. Tilting boomers on some random app gets old after a while. Not much success there, we played a few times. I even learned how to shuffle cards and watched a few YT videos on strategies, all for nothing! Still, it was a lot of fun, and I wouldn't mind getting back into it.
So, zero tips from me. Instead I'd request some insights/thoughts/stories you've gathered over the years!
