Back on topic though, is it worth it to read the books over watching the movies or do you get the same general lore knowledge? I am considering picking it up in the distant future if it ever goes on sale.

So I watched the movies multiple times and this last summer I actually listened to all the ebooks while I was working. I enjoy both equally. If you do read the books, you should watch the corresponding movie right after and compare. That's what I did this past summer and it was enjoyable for me.
The books and movies are totally not a requirement for the game though, as none of the characters from the books/movies are in the game. (The game takes place 100~ years prior)

I have finished the game and working on 100%/all trophies - if anybody is stuck on anything at all I can probably help.

Here are some common hints on things people commonly are stuck on:

A lot of the time people are missing one side quest when trying to complete all the quests for the challenge reward and usually it's the "Well, Well, Well" quest.

There is a merlin challenge with a giant ball - you have to unlock wingardium leviosa to move the ball, regular levioso doesn't work.

If you use Revelio and hear a ding noise, the ding is in the direction of a field guide page. If you use a headset you can hear more clearly which direction to go looking for the page.

I was able to do the Merlin Trial with the giant ball by using Leivoso and Accio, just saying! It is possible

When you use Accio, it automatically uses Wingardium Leviosa on the item (assuming its unlocked)

Definitely got lucky then. I've tried nudging them with other spells and it's very difficult to get them to move at all. Too tedious considering there are 95 merlin's trials (yes, ninety five.... ugh).

Another tip is there's an accessibility setting that gives you a visual on screen of which direction the noise is coming from. It puts a circle on the screen and an icon on the circle in the direction of the noise.

Has anyone found a work around to the too many items thing? Like when you open chests and have too many cloaks/gloves, and then you get fucked and no longer get the item?

Like, I WANT ALL THE CLOTHES! I don't want to have to choose which outfit I want to wear. I just want something cute, but gives hella offense/defense. But I don't want to sell things.
