(un)fortunately my most favoritest account ever was returned to me, albeit wiped. so i did what any other cheater would have done: spent fat stax on UCs. and why did i do this? this is exactly where you come in!

we all get that warm, butterfly-y feeling in our stomachs when we log in to neopetsdotcom. the dopamine that surges through my body when i stare at my pets all lined up on my profile is a high that i pray never leaves LOL

but what is it about these pixels exactly that make us so goddamn happy, even as adults? sometimes i get choked up thinking about how much neopets meant to me as a child...and how much it still does. i think about my neopets all the time. i pull them up on my phone just to be like

Most days, it makes me want to throw my computer out the window. So enraged that I want to just stop.

Then I get a new permie pet and that feeling is gone.

For a few days LOL.

Honestly though, neopets is always going to be that one place that I can escape to, to get away. Like many others, I've been here for 15+ years, and I don't see myself leaving anytime soon. Yeah, it sucks when things don't go our way, but it's a corporation that's been going on since we were kids. What else can we expect? We just roll with the punches and we continue on like nothing ever happened.

Oh god where do I begin...

I can tell you that since I've made a new side account I've completely felt so bored on my main with all my UCs and Converteds. I don't get that dopamine anymore going to my main but when I go to my new side account.. I get that mega rush of doapmine. I'm not sure if its because I have a specific account theme going on, its the pets or what but I've been staying on my side longer just admiring them, getting clickable avatars and lurking the boards + working on their layouts and shit.

I don't know why I have such attachment to these pets but I do and they're mine. I'll fight anyone who tries to take them from me lol. I also don't see myself leaving unless TNT decides to just pull the plug on the site. I'm still here sadly buying neocash and stuff

On reset day, it makes me wonder why I'm even still bothering to play this fucking game from 1999 and exactly what the fuck I'm doing with my life.

On most days, I just look at my pets and feel comfy.

Umm I think I feel like a petty, angry little dragon wyrmling a top her prized pixels, snarling at anyone who looks at them funny and always scheming to add to my hoard when I absolutely should not be buying more pets when I don't have enough slots as it is

Neopets makes me feel like a kid just handed a stack of drawing paper and a handful of colored pencils. Just so excited about the possibilities. It's like this amazing blank canvas that's just there ready and waiting for me to write on or draw on and there's other people who share similar interests and I can chat with them or admire their own creations and it's fantastic. My pets are just pixels but I'm so attached to them for being these little engines of creativity that inspire me to want to DO something with them.

I do get annoyed at site breaks, I miss the flash games, but what I love about Neo at its core is its utility as a creative platform and that has never changed. I get just as excited about getting a new pet I really like as I did when I was a kid.
