Question about securing items

Hi! Hope it's ok to ask questions, because I'm still kinda new to this. I've only ever bought nc items and haven't had problems of those being directly sent to me. However I'm interested in buying a few things like paintbrushes but I'm not sure how to go about that. Is it safe now to just send these items directly to your main if you're buying 1 or 2, or should you still go ahead with sending them to a shell to sit for a while? I was trying to look up securing guides here but all I could find were older ones about pets or neopoints, not specifically about items.

Also some guides were talking about just opening a new browser on incognito if you don't have a proxy to send items between shells -- was also curious if that still works or if that's outdated too.

I personally still have larger purchases like PBs sent to a shell to sit for a month or two before moving to my main with the use of the VPN. There are some people who say TNT is extremely lax about checking item movement logs nowadays, and I do believe them, but old habits die hard.

Nowadays, a seller will usually provide you with throwaway shells containing the items you've purchased so that you can transfer them at your leisure, and without compromising your own account. While it's not advisable to transfer everything at once, especially from multiple accounts to a single recipient, you would be perfectly safe trickling the items into your account over a period of time, so long as you're not drawing attention to yourself in the process. It would be unsafe to elaborate on timing or techniques in a publicly visible area of the forum, so I'd highly recommend reaching out through private messaging to some of the users that volunteer to talk you through some specifics. That way, you're not letting tattlers in on how you're strategizing.

I used to buy items and have them sit on a side for a while before moving to my main and that always worked fine. Although recently I been saying fuck it and having them sent to my main anyway 🤷 So far so good! I get multiple pb too like 4+ along with expensive petpet and been alright. I heard from seller on here that they send items very regularly like this with no big issue but you do what feels right! c:

I'm glad! Like Bat said don't be afraid to ask us questions. We have some pretty awesome people here who are happy to help you along. Once you do it once you might be like me and want to just keep buying things lol It is just sooooo much easier to support people here and get your items that way then dealing with the hassle of trying to advertise/trade with users on site.

I think now that people can more easily communicate off site they've become much less interested in trying to track down movement. I wouldn't move huge amounts of items all at once just to be on the safe side but like @(you need an account to see links) said a few at a time seems to be safe for me at least and since items generally come with a shell you don't have as much at risk. I've had no hassle so far with bought items just being sent directly to a main. I play fast and loose but TNT has bigger fish to fry that a few items.

For NC items though, I’ll literally just send back a low value NC item sometimes since it’s usually quitting players or big NC collectors id buy from. Want to keep both of us a bit more safe by making it seem like a legit nc trade

That's what I do as well. I often send a gbc back because quitting players often ask for voluntary gbcs to help with gifting. For TNT's system this is just a 1:1 trade so it won't raise any eyebrows whatsoever.
