I have recently gotten into collecting blu-rays like I used to collect DVDs when I was young, and wondered if anyone else also buys the physical copy for blu-ray or 4K releases to really see films in the best possible quality.... or yall just stream everything.
Oh for sure. Any movie or album I like, I try to get on blu-ray or vinyl. I'm not a true collector, I don't buy them unless I intend to watch/listen to them, but I do like fancy steelbook blu-ray cases and will go out of my way to get those rather than a normal blu-ray release. Especially if it's a (you need an account to see links) release.

I'll go out of my way to get vinyl for the albums I like, especially if they have a pretty printing/design on the vinyl itself, or if the cover art is super pretty so I can hang it up in my house! We also have a really nice vinyl player system set up, though I'd say we don't use it as much as we should.
Movies and tv shows I definitely always stream. I used to collect nicer downloads, typically pirated, but now I'm too lazy to do that now haha.
I do a little bit, but I've been wanting to more. Growing up my town had a used record store that expanded into CDs and DVDs, and I'd constantly scour the bargain sections. I ended up with a mix of specific items I was hunting for because I really liked this movie/album in question, or things I picked up because they looked interesting and it was only a couple of bucks. After leaving for college I stopped this routine, plus streaming/digital really took rise. For a while, even stuff I'd bought digitally I'd burn to CD so I could have it as part of my collection (sometimes even printing out fake labels and stuff), but that sort of dropped off of that as we moved towards digital libraries vs digital ownership. But I'm trying to move back the other way. I really like physically owning things even if it's a little less convenient. I also really miss the days of really amazing DVD special features. There used to be some really incredible stuff on there. But it's just not worth the investment for them anymore.
Books I'm absolutely still on the physical media train. I just love the tactile experience of reading a book.
I've moved from collecting them physically to collecting them digitally xD
I have all my favorite movies that I watch from time to time downloaded in the highest quality and stored in a hard disk.

It's so wild to me that when DVDs were first a thing, we stockpiled those. Then when Blu Ray came out, we rebought some of the same movies and then some that we already had on DVD. Then there was 4K Ultra Blu Ray.
Now they're all in cardboard boxes in my attic to die.
Meanwhile I'm being played a fool while Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Paramount, Disney, YouTube, and Disney burgles my bank account. 🤡

I used to collect manga and anime DVDS wayyyy back when, before I understood the concept of money. And then I sold them bc I needed money, which I now deeply regret. Young me just didn’t know how much to save or spend. now all the DVDS/manga I want are so ridiculously priced right now because “vintage.” I will occasionally buy a book versus reading it on the kindle app, usually just self help books.
I have a preference for physical media, just because I've had digital things lost or inaccessible before. But if there is no other way I'll get it digital. For me physical media is the way to go, the loss of consoles and computers without disc drives is a crime.

I absolutely do. I collect vinyl records and I still will typically buy physical copies of Nintendo Switch games.
There's just something about Nintendo games specifically where I gotta have that physical cartridge, yanno?
I still have DVDs and have a small-ish collection of vinyls. I mostly hang them in frames on my wall though.
