Do you remember your favorite story book as a child?

OK so I was a sucker for the classics. I have a big book with all the old Disney stuff in, it wasn't old then that I LOVE my mom to read to me when I was a child.

Many of my friends have toddlers now and sometimes I am amazed by the books they LOVE. Like its really not fancy at all. Lol My one friend's 2-year-old loves this book that shows all the different poop every animal poops. Its literally his favorite book and want it to be read to him every night. LOL

I really liked a book that was called "to big little ones", which was a collection of poems for kids. Every poem had a nice structure and rhymes, and their pages also had some really unique drawings that looked like they were actually drawn on the book and not printed.
When I got older and felt nostalgic I bought myself a new copy of the book because we somehow lost the old one, and I cherish it.

it has to be the Stephen Gammell illustrated though. Honorable mentions:

there's another story book I used to love when I was really little. I've been struggling for years to remember the name of it. It was another scary story themed book, but less actual nightmare fuel than More Scary Stories. I remember there being an illustration of the Baba Yaga chicken hut that really creeped me out. I can vaguely remember illustrations that were mostly in blue tones and I think showed stuff like, a creepy house's interior, but also what was going on under the ground beneath it and stuff like that? Idk it feels like a fever dream trying to remember it.

Scary Stories were suuuuuuuch good ones (and agree, definitely the Stephen Gammell illustrations are a must). I was a huge reader as a kid, so I went through a lot of different favorites, but I remember in kindergarten liking this one so much I asked my mom for a second copy so I could have one to read at school/share with friends.

    [edit]
I just remembered this one, which was also a delight!

Amelia Bedelia was a childhood favorite because she was so relatable. She's cheerful and enthusiastic but unreliable because she takes everything literally. She doesn't understand figures of speech and metaphors.

She also made me a pretty big smartass.

I was crazy about reading so I jumped into chapter books pretty quickly, so I didn't think there would be many "kid books" that particularly stuck with me... but then I thought about it more.

I honed my reading abilities in the salt mines of Danny and the Dinosaur back when I was a larva. Syd Hoff makes Tolkien look like Seuss.

I believe that scary stories book has a poem in it, the hearse poem?
That poem will forever be carved into my brain, it's a core memory for me now, I still have that book.

All Roald Dahl books! My favourite was George's Marvellous Medicine. I remember first reading it when I was in year 4 Then I was introduced to his other books like Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Really great kids books, and a great way to get into reading.

Then I was super into Horrible Histories lol.
