wow, wow, this is not surprising coming from TNT, but it's also something that makes me speechless.

A tip: if you are someone like me, that have a terrible memory for passwords and use the same pw in lots of websites and devices (which I know it's not something safe to do, but I know there's lots of people like me that can't remember passwords and little details), try to create a exclusive one at least for sites that you don't trust the security, like neopets.

It's scary to see how weak is TNT security :/

Oh shit. I have unique passwords but I'm just thinking of the fallout here, the ramifications are potentially incredible.

I feel this would make it worse honestly. It would make us more the villans I think in other users eyes to see us really attempting to try this and hack into the website when we already don't condone actively hacking into accounts.

I also feel this would help the hacker who got into the database in the first place and think they can keep doing it for such a large amount of money.

I'm changing all my pw just in case and intent on keep changing, it's a shame how we users have to go through ridiculous stack path non stop and then this happens showing we have 0 protection

Pretty heavy price tag for account info for a pet site, you think people are really going to pay it? Have there been any accounts taken over yet?
I've got a lot of questions, lol. Wonder if someone does use the list if the less active you are the better for you, so your account isn't picked out as easily?
I don't know how these things work but it is concerning. Probably going to lay low until they get it sorted out.

EDIT: Found it. Looks like they're ONLY selling the entire thing and only to one person. 4BTC is a reasonable price IMO and I bet they will find a buyer.

yeah the advice to not change your password is very ???? Worst case, you wasted two minutes. Best case, someone who purchases a static snapshot of the data gets a view where your info is outdated. I'm changing passwords, PINs, and locking everything down under requiring a PIN until this mess is sorted out.
