Maybe controversial opinion but.... The Hobbit.
Difficult book to read, decent movie to watch. LOTR on the other hand, equally good for book and films

I know a lot of people said Harry Potter books are better than the movies but personally, at least for the first book (I can only say this one since it was the only one I read), I feel like the Sorcerer's Stone is an AMAZING movie and the book was good but I felt like the movie really set the tone for the audience to grow up with the characters haha.
The first one that comes to mind for me is A Clockwork Orange. It's not that I don't like the book -it's really good- but I loved the movie and I think the ending is much better.
Stardust. The book was sort of an old fashiony fantasy romance, while the movie was a very fun romantic comedy.
Harry Potter movie(s), I could barely get through any of the books.
