It's Summertime!

It's finally summer time!
(at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere!)



So, I want to know...

What is your favourite thing to do in the summer? Are you a total beach bum? Lake lifer? How do you like to stay cool? Popsicles, ice cream, good old fashioned AC?
Maybe you have a favourite memory from the summer time? I wanna hear about it!

I will go first!

As a kid, we would always go to the outdoor waterslide park in June at the end of the school year. We would stay all day until we were EXHAUSTED. There was this one slide that was super scary to me, it was really fast, had big drops and was in pitch black. I remember the year I turned 12, I was FINALLY brave enough to go down it by myself. So I did, and it was a blast! Once it was time to leave, we'd get a twist (chocolate and vanilla swirled) soft serve ice cream cone.

My BF's family owns a little cozy cabin super near here, there's one room that is outside a giant tree and blocks a good part of light (and heat away). For someone who doesn't sleep so well, that room does wonders to me being all dark, when you wake up you don't even know what time it is lol so when we go there we sleep a lot.

There's also a lot of different beaches near and beautiful natural monuments. One of the cities near here has a very festive and happy atmosphere, it's perfect for holidays

AND I love making natural juices of all kinds for me and my sister, summer is our favorite season.

That's so cool! This place looks so beautiful!



Also I forgot to mention before, but I'm very bard with cold weather, so that's another reason I prefer summer! (ofc too hot can also get uncomfortable, but it's never as bad as when it's cold, for me at least)

I am feeling the solution with the UB is something to do with cold weather or something to do with cold maybe in reference to how hot the summer is

I am unsure! I just know that I also can not do anything cold or even slightly cool. I know most people tell me that you could always put on another layer of clothes when you are cold and that isn't really an option for when you are overheating. I get that honestly but I feel like I would rather suffer through something too hot than freezing to death and shivering lol

I LOVE SUMMER SO MUCH AH

Where should I start? well, first of all, my birthday is at the beginning of summer which was always fun. Then, like with many things in my life, most people I know hate summer/prefer other seasons so I'm the odd one out.
Now for some fun memories associated with summer for me. When I was younger my family used to vacation every summer in one of the most tourist-y city in our country, which is in the most southern point of the country, which means is very hot there. But since it's in the desert at least there is no humidity there, so yay! (Still, it can get to 40+ degrees lol). We'd stay at a hotel and play in the pool all day or go to the beach usually!
Also during summer, when I was in high school, there was used to be an anime con I always went to. The con still happens btw, it's just I can't go to it every year like before (but this year I'm going! I'm even doing a panel there!!)

As for the very deep popsicle discussion that opened up here (please bare with me as I probably won't use the right English term for stuff) - I'm a huge fan of all the unique popsicles! I think my all time favorite was a lemon sorbet with a gummy worm inside it... I remember having it in our local pool a couple of times when I was 10 or something like that, but it disappeared just as fast as it came! I still dream about having another one like that...
Also the ice pops are a big thing here you buy and freeze them at home. Definitely a fond memory of coming back from school and eating a whole big one!

We don't have these type of unique flavours here
It's pretty generic grape, orange, apple popsicles (grape being the one that everyone fights over)

I love summertime but my body just cannot stand the heat. luckily i live in a reasonably mild climate so it's not overly hot most of the years.

For me summer is all about making my own yogurt ice creams and milkshakes to stay cool during the day and then barbecuing late in the evening and well into the night while keeping a fire pit burning if the night is just a tad too chilly to stay out without a blanket.
My favourite milkshake i make with:

• 0.5kg frozen strawberries
• 2 ripe bananas
• white chocolate ice cream
• some vanilla sugar
• some cold milk

The white chocolate ice cream instead of plain vanilla is just perfect for me

Wow everything looks seriously good for the Summer! We do have cornetto and magnum here and the yellow/red one at the bottom right as well.
There's another ice cream that I love eating when the weather gets ridiculously warm (not till 40+ degrees though, the highest we have is probably 38 here)

WOw that looks amazing. YOu have a lot of popsicles. Magnum and cornetto is rather popular here aswell but the other ones I haven't really seen.
Do you guys have those popsicles makers? At a stage, probably in the 80's that was so popular here making your own ones. I have a feeling with the recession its going to start being a thing again this year.
WE are still in winter so spring here start in Septemebr. For now its bitter cold and we are on soups and keeping warm

I'm loving reading all the summer stories here!!

My favourite thing to do (like fellow Aussie @(you need an account to see links)) is to enjoy our beautiful beaches! Living on the east coast there's so many to choose from, and I'm super lucky to live a 5min drive from my closest one.
This might be a bit odd to some, but my other favourite thing to do is go insect spotting, especially at night! Watching cicadas come out of the ground, shed their shells and dry their wings is such a meditative experience

I would be all over that watermelon shaped popsicle. Watermelon flavored anything is my absolute favorite.

We used to have an ice cream truck that would circle my neighborhood in the summer when I was a kid. Everything was a ripoff of course, but nothing was better than rushing outside and getting one of those stupid character-shaped ice creams with the gumball eyes that were *never* placed correctly. TMNT and the Powerpuff Girls were super common ones I remember, but there was also stuff like Pikachu at one point? And I definitely remember a Tweety.
