It's Summertime!

It's finally summer time!
(at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere!)



So, I want to know...

What is your favourite thing to do in the summer? Are you a total beach bum? Lake lifer? How do you like to stay cool? Popsicles, ice cream, good old fashioned AC?
Maybe you have a favourite memory from the summer time? I wanna hear about it!

I will go first!

As a kid, we would always go to the outdoor waterslide park in June at the end of the school year. We would stay all day until we were EXHAUSTED. There was this one slide that was super scary to me, it was really fast, had big drops and was in pitch black. I remember the year I turned 12, I was FINALLY brave enough to go down it by myself. So I did, and it was a blast! Once it was time to leave, we'd get a twist (chocolate and vanilla swirled) soft serve ice cream cone.

We’ve had some crazy rainstorms in the warm weather here- my partner and I walk a lot with our dog and have gotten caught in a few insane downpours, but I kindof love it tbh! Spray park sounds so fun though! (I assume that’s the same thing as what we’d call a water park here) There’s one near my house, that’s a really good idea…

I guess they are the same. No pool or slides just water fountains, spray guns and stuff and spray frames to keep the kiddos cool in the summer. Today reminded me of how much of a wimp I am now and how touch kids are. I remember as a kid when it was cool never wanting to wear a coat or sweater and now I see that kids just run hotter than adults. All of us mums had goosebumps and were dry and trying to soak in some heat from the sun and the kids were totally fine in the water and didn't even complain! What troopers!

Oh ok I know that as a splash pad, that makes sense! I understand exactly what you mean by wimp. I remember my mother asking me as a child how I wasn’t bothered by the cold, and I just shrugged and asked if I could go back out to play in the snow! Weird how the tables turn as we grow.

I had so much fun this past weekend! My 9 year old niece had a soccer tournament in my city (my brother and his family otherwise lives three hours away) so I spent the whole weekend with them. It started off brutally hot but turned fast into massive downpours, which you can see starting to form in this (terrible) picture of my brother (tan meathead) and I (pale blob) standing in what got dubbed "the exile zone," the spot behind the field my sister-in-law banished us to for being too loud for the other parents

It was all very tongue in cheek that we got kicked out of the parents area, my brother and I hadn't seen each other in a few months so he was just super excited and could not remember to keep a verbal filter on. We're locked in a perpetual game of one-upping each other, only the goal is to try and make the other laugh harder so we can be a bit over-enthusiastic and basically have our own language of dumb inside jokes. We were informed that we were STILL the loudest voices where they were sitting whenever my niece scored despite being all the way in the exile zone

it was a good summer weekend, I enjoyed it a lot.

Like.. September is a couple days away. HOW?!

I mean I can’t wait for sweater weather and fall and all of that but I cannot grasp how fast summer flew by.

Relate. I just feel like I didn't do as much as I wanted. I worked for money but didn't really put that money toward anything but necessities. Honestly though, I haven't really felt like "doing" much though. Pretty content just existing here lately haha.

I feel this so much right now. It feels like my kid just finished school and started summer holidays and now he just went back to his first day of school! Like HOW!? It went by so fast.

As excited as I am for fall, I am sad that summer ended so quickly. I really dread winter tbh but it's worth it for fall

Halloween and Autumn give me the happy feels. Reminds me of elementary school fall carnivals, haunted houses, trickertreating (Mama dressed me up as Baby Bop from Barney so many years omfg it was so embarrassing when my friends with witches and princesses) xDDD
