It's Summertime!

It's finally summer time!
(at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere!)



So, I want to know...

What is your favourite thing to do in the summer? Are you a total beach bum? Lake lifer? How do you like to stay cool? Popsicles, ice cream, good old fashioned AC?
Maybe you have a favourite memory from the summer time? I wanna hear about it!

I will go first!

As a kid, we would always go to the outdoor waterslide park in June at the end of the school year. We would stay all day until we were EXHAUSTED. There was this one slide that was super scary to me, it was really fast, had big drops and was in pitch black. I remember the year I turned 12, I was FINALLY brave enough to go down it by myself. So I did, and it was a blast! Once it was time to leave, we'd get a twist (chocolate and vanilla swirled) soft serve ice cream cone.

Nahhh I really loved the vids thanks for taking them! The stark contrast between the darkness and then seeing everything lit up for just a few seconds was really cool. I sure don't like being in nature but I do hecking appreciate it!

I had my first summer holiday since the pandemic started and it was the best thing ever. I normally try to go away or do something exciting ever summer but alas it could not be the last twoish years. I went to Costa Brava for about 5 days this week, came back a few days ago and I feel super refreshed! I still have a few more days off before I actually have to go back to work which is great. A vacation from my vacation xD Swam in the sea for the first since 2013 and it was great, the ocean there is like crystal clear and super blue! My swimming skills are... not what they sued to be though xD but heck I got to see little fishies on the shallow parts of the beach! The sand was super hot, burnt my feet, no biggie xD Caught a lovely tan though!

I really recommend going if anyone can, I literally did nothing but laze around at the beach, ate a lot of food and repeated for 5 days straight xD

Oh my goodness congrats on what sounds like an amazing vacation! How did you find the actual travel and airport experience? I've heard that some places are a complete nightmare. I hope it all went well for you! I have really been wanting to take a tropical beach vacation again. The last time I did this was to Mexico back in 2019 before Covid. So I am itching to go again. I am hoping the Dominican Republic. I hope you made some awesome memories and have some amazing photos!

This past weekend I was in a Softball tournament which was a lot of fun! It was great to be able to play in it again as also due to covid we didn't put in a team the past few years! It was also nice to see I hadn't lots much of my skills and was able to play well. Now I have to wait until spring again to play

Thank you! It was honestly so needed, I don't think I've been able to just relax and unwind without thinking about my anxieties and worries in such a long time. It was so refreshing. In terms of travel it was incredibly smooth from the UK to Barcelona, then a 1 hour car journey from Barcelona to Costa Brava! My cousin drove us there, so we didn't take any public transport Face masks were required on the flight to and from Barcelona, which was no big deal at all, it made me feel more safe On the way back to the UK there was a bit of waiting around to board the flight, but that's pretty much it! Flight itself was less than 2 hours long both ways.

I'd totally do this again! I've never been to he Dominican Republic, but I bet it's amazing! If you can take time out to go anywhere then I really recommend it, I think we all need some kind of summer vacation ^__^

I'm glad it all went smoothly! Maybe it's just Canada that is the disaster to travel through right now haha. I can't wait tog et out of the country. However, I wont go until the travel in and out of Canada improves. So hopefully that is soon. I have also been waiting like 5 months for mini-me's passport so we are stuck right now.

Ooof that sounds rough, but hopefully it only gets better from here! 5 months? ;O; Does it normally take this long for passports? :0 I know there was a backlog of passport renewals here too which took about a month to get done ;u;

Nope it never takes that long. Allegedly COVID messed the staffing etc so they are super backlogged. If you book a trip you can risk it then try and have a last minute one processed but that's a huge risk. I was just trying to be proactive as the Mini-me's was expiring and has expired while waiting for the new one to be processed. At this rate I am tempted to start the process for mine which expires in 1.5 years. It's madness. It used to take like maybe 21 business days pre covid.

Holy moly! That makes sense I suppose! I did mine very last minute because I forgot mine had expired (lol) but was able to get it in a few weeks tops, I hope the Mini-me comes through soon! And hopefully your one doesn't take too long either!

I don't know about everyone else, but I am ready for summer to end. Today it was disgustingly hot and humid. So much in fact, our back porch sliding door was covered in condensation. I'm ready for cool fall weather and pumpkin everything
