It's Summertime!

It's finally summer time!
(at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere!)



So, I want to know...

What is your favourite thing to do in the summer? Are you a total beach bum? Lake lifer? How do you like to stay cool? Popsicles, ice cream, good old fashioned AC?
Maybe you have a favourite memory from the summer time? I wanna hear about it!

I will go first!

As a kid, we would always go to the outdoor waterslide park in June at the end of the school year. We would stay all day until we were EXHAUSTED. There was this one slide that was super scary to me, it was really fast, had big drops and was in pitch black. I remember the year I turned 12, I was FINALLY brave enough to go down it by myself. So I did, and it was a blast! Once it was time to leave, we'd get a twist (chocolate and vanilla swirled) soft serve ice cream cone.

They were soooo yummy. The ice cream was soft too and the fudge swirl was DEEEEELISH

I'm soooo jelly! The closest I've found to this would be Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream *O* It's mouth wateringly good!

You cant order ice cream online? We order ice cream like take-away so you can order a soft serve at most take-away places. There are also a few other frozen deserts you can get. So thats pretty cool. You can also order from your local super market. SO you would just order ice cream with your other groseries and someone does your shopping for you and drop it of. Buying only ice cream in that way wont be cost effective. You need to buy a lot to make it worth it. Delivery is pretty pricy otherwise but its delivered to your door streight from the super arket so wont melt.

So jealous of that popsicle you got.

There is little to no point in ordering ice cream for grocery delivery unless it’s the middle of winter and below -10C. Otherwise, it WILL begin to melt in the person’s shopping cart and car, and when you go to freeze it when it arrives (which by the way, it’s not recommended to refreeze melted dairy) it’ll taste and look like shit.
You’d be wasting your own money lol. Better off buying it yourself tbh 🤷🏼*♀️

Agreed, it's soooo over priced for what it is, granted though they do have some really cool other flavours like phish food! I also learned my lesson to do order eggs through deliveroo/shopping delivery because yeaaahhh those don't came intact lmao. And Ice cream does not come frozen at all :c

I know some grocery services have insulate bags for frozen goods, so you might have luck with ice cream that way? I've gotten popsicles without any problem plenty of times.

There was also one time I had ice cream shipped to me. It was a specific brand I wanted to try that I couldn't find in any stores. I had to buy four pints, so it was a bit of a gamble on if I liked it or not. It shipped on dry ice the way meal kits do. The ice cream arrived un-melted, but it was also one of those dairy-free, sugar-free, joy-free brands.

on the tail end but I'm going to visit family next week for a whole week. where I live its too hot for me to comfortably do a lot of summer activities but where I'm going we are going to have a lot of fun outside. I like hiking there and apparently we'll be going closer to the mountains to enjoy lakes in the area

I think the closest ordering ice cream is locally for me, most of the time arrives in good state! But I don't think ice cream from farthest places will arrive ok xD

This reminds there is some chocolates from my childhood I really miss but they must travel in express sendment otherwise I don't think they'll make it T_T

Congrats Kibba on your last popsicle! I am hoping this event for Popsicles will continue to role in August so I can grab my last few!

I did look for those choco tacos as the store today no luck for me. But like if anyone in Canada finds them please let me know. I love tacos and ice cream so these are a clear must have!

Without knowing what this was, I assumed it was like a cliffside or something, of marble, that fractured due to the summer weather and was dangerous for it's landslide risk I'm hoping this is about an ice cream shop instead!

I'm seriously craving an ice cream sandwich about now. The heat has finally arrived here so I'm not going outside except when necessary.

Marble Slab is an ice cream store. They have these cold Marble ltierally slabs and then you pick your ice cream flavour and you topping and they mix it all up on the cold slab and put it in a cone or bowl. It is endless. They also do ice cream cakes. I had the Gummy Bear Birthday Cake the other day. I was worried about gummy bears in ice cream but it was quite good!
