It's Summertime!

It's finally summer time!
(at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere!)



So, I want to know...

What is your favourite thing to do in the summer? Are you a total beach bum? Lake lifer? How do you like to stay cool? Popsicles, ice cream, good old fashioned AC?
Maybe you have a favourite memory from the summer time? I wanna hear about it!

I will go first!

As a kid, we would always go to the outdoor waterslide park in June at the end of the school year. We would stay all day until we were EXHAUSTED. There was this one slide that was super scary to me, it was really fast, had big drops and was in pitch black. I remember the year I turned 12, I was FINALLY brave enough to go down it by myself. So I did, and it was a blast! Once it was time to leave, we'd get a twist (chocolate and vanilla swirled) soft serve ice cream cone.

@(you need an account to see links) nooo I haven't seen purple yam in my area 😳 but I have had purple potato flavor drinks/smoothies before and I like it! It ends up kind of just being a fairly mellow vanilla-y flavor in my opinion, with a bit of starchiness (but not in a bad way xD) depending on the amount of the potato inclusion. But the color and aesthetic... perfection 😩👌

My friends were calling me out last year because I said something about kind of wanting an ube cake for my birthday and they all said that it doesn't have much flavor and why bother. I just like the color okay. I know I can use food coloring, but somehow that doesn't feel as fun?

okay but like, it's literally almost the same thing as when people put espresso powder in chocolate recipes??? it's not like you can taste the coffee flavor, it's just an enhancing agent! ube does have it's own kind of savory sweetness but literally the same idea 😩 sorry but your friends got a bad take LOL

Oof I'm so sorry. Are you able to use bug spray to keep them off at all? I know some people can't stand the smell.

Oh my ): Where I am, we dont have them super often, but I still hate them a ton. My brother cant get bite by them due to him having a crazy reaction to the bites.
So this just reminded me that we need to get some spray and a zapper to help keep them away.

Mosquito bites are the worst. About a year ago I went camping and I was almost eaten alive by those little bitty suckers My mom gave me some "mom tips" to get rid of the itching, one was to put a hot spoon where the bite was, and well, I got burnt lol. It's funny to remember now xD

Man I have never heard about the spoon thing?? But if you guys (or at least Trash Panda's mom and Cinna 😂) swear by it, I guess I will have to give it a go the next time I turn into a tiny icey buffet. Really hoping that I am not outdoors too much for the rest of the summer, or that wherever I am in Europe next month is not a mosquito hotbed xD

@(you need an account to see links) it sounds weird but it works! xD Just don't put the spoon into boiling water and then onto your skin like dumb me did. I've read using honey also works, but I've never tried that. Plus I think if you're all sweet and sticky you're just gonna attract more bugs xD
