It's Summertime!

It's finally summer time!
(at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere!)



So, I want to know...

What is your favourite thing to do in the summer? Are you a total beach bum? Lake lifer? How do you like to stay cool? Popsicles, ice cream, good old fashioned AC?
Maybe you have a favourite memory from the summer time? I wanna hear about it!

I will go first!

As a kid, we would always go to the outdoor waterslide park in June at the end of the school year. We would stay all day until we were EXHAUSTED. There was this one slide that was super scary to me, it was really fast, had big drops and was in pitch black. I remember the year I turned 12, I was FINALLY brave enough to go down it by myself. So I did, and it was a blast! Once it was time to leave, we'd get a twist (chocolate and vanilla swirled) soft serve ice cream cone.

I saw somewhere online there were these bandaid like things you can put on your body when you apply sunscreen and it will change colour when you need to reapply. Cool concept but I’m not gonna walk around with a sticker stuck to my forehead. I look like a fool enough without it

I would absolutely wear that because I am so bad at reapplying sunscreen. Heck, I am bad for applying it in the first place. Especially at work. I get so caught up and busy, and then we are outside and boom. My pale white face is burnt LOL. Prime example is today. It was fianlly sunny. We took the kids for a walk, as I mentioned earlier, and now my face is burned after barely at hour at 10am because I am so dang sensitive to the sun hjkasdlhfklajsf ughhhh so now I have to lather my cheeks in aloe vera

Oh Columbidae we need to exchange pigeon pics! I only have one but she's super cute
I need to go check out the Discord lol. Is it expensive building another coop? My girl has an aviary all to herself, she's pretty darn spoilt I tried to get her a mate but even after a slow introduction she really didn't like him. Strong independent girl!

Its also pouring here, we're in a state of emergency due to flooding We've had 300mm of rain in just a few days, and its still going. This is usually a summer scenario for us, but its extra strange to be facing it in winter. This is our 3rd 'once in a life time' rain event this year!

I will, but it’s also very warm in the centre so I would need to reapply it regardless. Ya girl gets HOT really easily. I hate it.

I imagine you trying to sleep after a day of a stressful job/school or just a simple nap time lol 'not gonna happen baby *fireworks noise* yey!

This was me ALL week LOL
Like, someone set some fireworks off at 4AM! Ugh! I was so upset LOL
And my poor kitty last night was just sooo scared ): Was under my bed most of the night till they stopped. After he just slept next to me for the rest of the night lol

Something that I've grown to enjoy the last few years since moving out on my own is getting outside around the yard and finding different projects, small or large to tackle. Usually something small like going around pruning the bushes/tree branches hanging too low. Power washing the dirt off of everything like the cement pathway. Or as useless as moving a pile of wood from one spot to another...

It's nice to add these types of tasks into routine, in order to keep busy during the week. And with the sun beaming down, that makes for even better exercise. Great for the mind too.

I could not agree more with this. Being on a rural property it's so nice to be out and just puttering around in the yard. Just this weekend did a bunch of sapling pruning. I love cleaning up the garden in the spring and watching it all sprout and grow during the summer also love the satisfaction of cutting the lawn! I just plug in my ear buds and turn on a podcast and off I go on the ride on mower. Gotta get those mow lines straight. For my summers in university I worked at a golf course and spent much of my summers
On mowers so doing the lawn in a flash back to easier and times of less responsibility haha.

My husband hates when I give him projects but it sure is satisfying when they are completed! My mothersday and bday gift was us building a fence lol
