    It's Summertime!

    It's finally summer time!
(at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere!)

    So, I want to know...

What is your favourite thing to do in the summer? Are you a total beach bum? Lake lifer? How do you like to stay cool? Popsicles, ice cream, good old fashioned AC?
Maybe you have a favourite memory from the summer time? I wanna hear about it!

    I will go first!

As a kid, we would always go to the outdoor waterslide park in June at the end of the school year. We would stay all day until we were EXHAUSTED. There was this one slide that was super scary to me, it was really fast, had big drops and was in pitch black. I remember the year I turned 12, I was FINALLY brave enough to go down it by myself. So I did, and it was a blast! Once it was time to leave, we'd get a twist (chocolate and vanilla swirled) soft serve ice cream cone.

    1)
This section is for discussion of miscellaneous topics that do not fit into another site section. If another section (like Help, Neopets Chat, Movies/TV, Debate Zone etc.) suits your intended topic better, please post it there instead. The key word here is "discussion"- if it is not a topic that will generate meaningful discussion, it will be moved to SPAM. Posting a meme, for example, belongs in the SPAM section.

    2) All posts in this section must be a minimum of 1 sentence long, and need to include an explanation of why. This is to encourage people to not only state their view on a topic, but to provide evidence/examples that support their opinions. For example: "My favourite breed of dog is dachshund, because they have such adorably silly little body shapes and are very affectionate."

@(you need an account to see links) oh I agree completely! like, reapplication? who do you think I am? someone with a good sense of time and the memory of a responsible adult? fuck no! this is why I adhere to the best 100% effective sunblock, staying indoors.

also dang we also woke up to a big summer storm today too. :o it has since died down and hopefully moved on but it was really raging for a hot second.

@(you need an account to see links) - right? Heck. I saw somewhere online there were these bandaid like things you can put on your body when you apply sunscreen and it will change colour when you need to reapply. Cool concept but I’m not gonna walk around with a sticker stuck to my forehead. I look like a fool enough without it

I just cant imagine my life without my beautiful AC lol. In really hot days it gets around 45C (113F) here, so it's veery hot. You can live with a fan, but you have to be in front of the fan 24/7 xD
Correct! Since it was the 4th yesterday, there was a ton of fireworks
But around my area, people set them off ALL week! Example is that someone set one off just a few min ago in the parking lot lol Its gonna be like this for a few more days ): Day and night

My grandparents used to have a cottage/lakehouse in Vermont that we went to every summer. Sometimes multiple times a year.
It was a piece of shit little shack that never got good TV reception on the 2 channels it could get, and reeked of my grandma's cigarettes, but I loved that place.
My aunt and uncle anchored their boats there, and I loved cruising the lake for hours. Especially on their pontoon boat.
My dad and I would fish for hours off the dock.
And just tubing or floating on an inflatable alligator and swimming.
    Bonfires on the rocky beach...
And finding fossils on the lake's islands. People in the neighborhood knew me well and whenever they found fossils they'd give them to me.
I miss that place. After my grandparents died, my mom wanted to keep it in the family and fix it up, but my Aunt wound up with it and sold it off :/ I think it got torn down and replaced with a newer cottage.

YEEEEEEEEES!!! This is the best fucking thing in the world, my mom introduced me and my sister to this when we were kids and I'd tell my friends about it when we got older and they're all like "??? where the hell did you get this combo from" and I'm like don't question it! Just eat! If you go to the brazilian steakhouses like Fogo de Chao or Chima in the states they sometimes have cantaloupe and prosciutto at the salad bar and boy do I eat my weight in this stuff. It's so delicious and summery tbh any melon is a go to side dish during the summer. Although I tried to grill watermelon recently and that... did not work out as well as I hoped it would lol.

I am a total river rat! You can find me out boating, skiing, swimming, kayaking, tubing, fishing, etc.. all summer long. When I am not on the river I can be found hiking state parks or swimming at the pool. Staying cool means jumping in the water, cranking the A/C or chugging an ice cold one hope everyone had a good 4th and is having a great summer so far! 🤙🏼

We had fireworks till about 1am here as well. Luckily my dog is deaf as a post and didn't notice anything. I also feel you on the humidity, it's merciless here. We have a swamp cooler and are suffering because of it.
