It's Summertime!

It's finally summer time!
(at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere!)



So, I want to know...

What is your favourite thing to do in the summer? Are you a total beach bum? Lake lifer? How do you like to stay cool? Popsicles, ice cream, good old fashioned AC?
Maybe you have a favourite memory from the summer time? I wanna hear about it!

I will go first!

As a kid, we would always go to the outdoor waterslide park in June at the end of the school year. We would stay all day until we were EXHAUSTED. There was this one slide that was super scary to me, it was really fast, had big drops and was in pitch black. I remember the year I turned 12, I was FINALLY brave enough to go down it by myself. So I did, and it was a blast! Once it was time to leave, we'd get a twist (chocolate and vanilla swirled) soft serve ice cream cone.

It's raining here! It's almost 1 am and raindrops are sleepy and calm. Perfect for sleeping! BUT I HAVE TO STAY AWAKE FINISHING THE SEMINARY IM GOING TO PRESENT IN A FEW HOURS AAAAA

I love rain too! Thunderstorms at night are so relaxing to me, especially in summer when the rain comes and cools everything down without making it humid and gross.

I LOVE Thunderstorms, but not when its RIGHT above me lol It makes my windows shake and that freaks me out a bit lol
We had a crazy Thunderstorm a week or so ago and it was above me. Woke me up at like 3am

But when it rains during the Summer, I love to leave my window open to hear it falling. I also enjoy the smell of when it rains

To stay on topic, did you guys ever have sleepovers during the summers as a kid? I was never allowed to but my little bro was. NOT FAIR @ PARENTS

We always had friends over and got to set up our camping tents in the back yard. Being Summer, it was so good to be able to sleep outside under the stars on a nice warm night. Myself and the wife/kids still continue this "tradition" to this day. Just recently my oldest son had some of his school mates over and did the same thing, except being Winter here now, they had a bonfire to keep warm which was cool too.

i had sleepovers all the time!! some of my only genuine positive childhood memories are from sleepovers in gradeschool :')

i have a very vivid memory of having a sleepover with my best friend in like 8th grade, and walking to a 7/11 and getting nachos and slushies and giant pickles.
and we had this Genius idea to.. dip the pickles in the cheese. religious experience. i was Ascending it was so good

I never had any sleep overs ):
I was never invited to any and I didnt really have any friends while growing up. I was a loner till I went to Culinary School. Even then I didnt make a ton of friends because I feel Im to awkward.

Summer sleep overs sounds wonderful though! Staying up late, gossip, junk food and being able to hang around with a ton of friends!
Oh! A Sleep over during a Thunderstorm would be so cool too!

I had random sleepovers with friends as growing up, didn't cause any very bad damage lol

But I never had slept on wild. As an adult while I hang out with some friends I normally don't feel comfortable sleeping elsewhere is not my home even though is late and they always offered me and my husband a bed or sth until morning. Just me being weird, like if home is not so far I'd rather go and sleep without worrying about moving later.

*screams in doubles standards and casual sexism* 😩😩 dude I'm so sorry but that is utter bullshit and I press F to pay respects to your unfair childhood. My parents were actually pretty chill about sleepovers for my sister and I, but I think that's because naturally no boys were involved (even for my birthday when I was a kid where I had a few girl friends over and our one boy friend, he got sent home early) so 🤷

I do have really fond memories of summer time sleepovers as a kid though! 🥺 one friend in particular would host them a lot and we'd do things like play manhunt around their apartment complex at night and play tons of Mario Party, Mario Kart, and Smash Bros on the N64 #just90skidsthings

Every Friday, we would go to the local rec center to swim with my childhood friends (M and F). We would stay up until like 10 playing N64 at my F friend's house, it was great. I remember playing all three of those games too. I have fond memories of those days.

I remember there was one time when she offered me flamin' hot cheetos and we'd just snack on those all night while burning our mouths off. It was so fun! I miss those days.

That and game boy advance had just came out and we all had the translucent purple ones. I wish that trend stayed a thing because I love seeing all the technology behind the plastic XD
