It's Summertime!

It's finally summer time!
(at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere!)



So, I want to know...

What is your favourite thing to do in the summer? Are you a total beach bum? Lake lifer? How do you like to stay cool? Popsicles, ice cream, good old fashioned AC?
Maybe you have a favourite memory from the summer time? I wanna hear about it!

I will go first!

As a kid, we would always go to the outdoor waterslide park in June at the end of the school year. We would stay all day until we were EXHAUSTED. There was this one slide that was super scary to me, it was really fast, had big drops and was in pitch black. I remember the year I turned 12, I was FINALLY brave enough to go down it by myself. So I did, and it was a blast! Once it was time to leave, we'd get a twist (chocolate and vanilla swirled) soft serve ice cream cone.

I personally think the games are still good if you stay away from all of the pre-release stuff that just ruins everything with spoilers... but that might be just me.

Anyway, if we are on the KH summer topic... I'm sure that summer on Destiny Islands is super fun lol. I wonder if it's summer all year long there or not

The only thing that got me was how their parents would just let them go out to the island all by themselves lol Like, we're they about 12? I forget
I had to ask if I could go outside during the summer lol They guys were like "Bye! Im off to the island!"

Tbh when I was little my parents allowed me go out and play with my friends since a very young age (around 6-7). We had lots of open fields around the neighborhood so a lot of places to play in. But it's not the same as just going to an island lmao

My favorite summer memory was in 2017 when I was doing my first paid internship. The company flew all 150 of us Analyst Interns to Disney World for an internship retreat that lasted for 3 days. It was SUPER hot (over 90 degrees fahrenheit) and the lines were long, but we still had a very good time. I made friends with lots of other interns from different offices and we spent the first 2 days in Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. At night, we gathered to see a fireworks show. The company put us in the nicest resort I've ever stayed at and they arranged for executives to speak to us about customer experience in one of the conference rooms. On the third day, we got one of those corporate tours where Disney employees walked us through the underground of the Magic Kingdom and talked about all they things they do to enhance customer experience. A fun fact at Disney is they call all of their park employees "cast", even the folks who just clean and do maintenance. The company was still paying us $36.25 an hour for the three days we were having fun in Disney, so that was nice!

As a kid, I enjoyed going to orchestra camp each year when I played violin. The camp puts kids who play violin, viola, cello, and bass into groups based on their experience level and then each group gets 4 weeks to practice for the big performance at the end. If you consistently keep going back each year, you will keep moving up a level and it's really rewarding to feel your own improvement. This camp is one of the reasons I stuck with music from elementary school all the way to college.

Summer is when I eat sweet cold treats, have lots of summer fruit, and re-watch Gravity Falls. Gotta get through the heat somehow

If I could I'd go swimming but that's not very feasible for me sadly!

Oh man what I'd give for more Gravity Falls. Such a great show. Same with Hilde. Wonderful inner child summer advventure vibes in both of them.

Wow, that camp actually sounded pretty fun, and it looks like it did keep you engaged in the music!

My family went to Disney World in July and yeah, it was super hot every single day. I do not know how I survived.

Even though we had to ask to go outside and such, my grandfather would always give us some money to walk to the store and get junk food during the summer lol
He'd ask for change, but we'd always use the whole 20 he gave us.

The store was next to a busy street too, so its crazy how he would just let us go to the store like that lol I think we were around 10-12 though. Which was still super young

Yeah, 10-12 isnt to young! But our neighborhood was very um... well, it wasn't as safe as most would have liked. We had a lot of scary situations near us :x
Anyways! I loved being able to go out to the store, get some snacks and come home! Our grandfather always put the air on for us as well, since it was blazing hot most days lol
Which brings me back to my favorite moments of summer! Snacks, AC and Unsolved Mysteries lol

The best airhead flavour is definitely the watermelon one by FAR. Also the white "mystery" one is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good! But I don't really care what flavour it is. Just GIMMIE THEM ALL.
