It's Summertime!

It's finally summer time!
(at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere!)



So, I want to know...

What is your favourite thing to do in the summer? Are you a total beach bum? Lake lifer? How do you like to stay cool? Popsicles, ice cream, good old fashioned AC?
Maybe you have a favourite memory from the summer time? I wanna hear about it!

I will go first!

As a kid, we would always go to the outdoor waterslide park in June at the end of the school year. We would stay all day until we were EXHAUSTED. There was this one slide that was super scary to me, it was really fast, had big drops and was in pitch black. I remember the year I turned 12, I was FINALLY brave enough to go down it by myself. So I did, and it was a blast! Once it was time to leave, we'd get a twist (chocolate and vanilla swirled) soft serve ice cream cone.

And that's why I can't stand landlords. I'm so sorry. Surely there's some sort of law or something against that?

So the good news is that looking at my lease and rental agreement and as well as local renter's laws, he cannot raise the rent on me for any reason unless it's renewal time. This includes the yearly adjustment for inflation.

The bad news is I do think I'm going to have to find somewhere else to live once it is time for renewal because me telling him this (while it made him back down from the issue for now) did not make him very happy. I don't trust living somewhere where the person keeping a roof over my head has reasons to be pissed with me.

Maybe a change of scenery is a good thing, lol.

I am finally hearing that Summer downpour I've been craving!

Oh my gosh us too (although it's been a long ongoing thing) but yesterday we had a TORRENTIAL summer storm that just dropped from the sky in buckets paired with really strong wind so the rain was coming down in sheets horizontally - it honestly felt like watching a hurricane. O_O I wish I had taken a video but I was actually at a restaurant eating chicken wings so I was indisposed. 😂 Thankfully it shut off just about when we were gonna leave, but boy was it something to witness.

I thought about recording just the sound because it's too dark to see anything, but figured it wouldn't capture it well. But as I was responding the low quiet rumbles tuarrned into full-on thunder/lightning, so I might be able to get a cool video after all! I mean it would still just be flashes of the yard, but it's...something?

I also just came here to share how much I'm enjoying the thunderstorm that I'm having right now!
Just had some ice cream, now I'm listening to thunder and watching lightning out my window whilst having a warm cup of tea while I draw. Perrrrfect summer night for me!

I tried and my phone just...didn't pick up the sounds well, but I admit I was also lazy and didn't move to a spot in my house that had a better chance of doing it. ;-;
