Unpopular Neopets Opinions

Unpopular opinion: Neopets has done a great job in the last year or so by expanding their merchandise offerings (with the exception of the Metaverse/NFT fiasco they're determined to run into the ground). Things like the Cakeworthy collaboration, revamping their own merch store, a(nother) mobile game, and an upcoming cookbook are really great options to remind the general populace that hey, Neopets is still around!

Hear me out, customizing Neopets is almost literally an NFT. I can spend $0 on DTI, build a customization, right-click, Save As, and Boom! - it's mine. Much like NFTs.

Ehh I see your point but nft are a still unchanging image as far as I know. I don't think you could change them up or choose what yours looks like. Also they don't have a huge environmental impact every time you trade NC items with someone. The fact that all the coolest clothes are NC is a pretty obvious money grab but I wouldn't equate it as being as heinous as NFTs.

Got me on the environmental stuff, but much like NC customization, if you want a new look to your NFT, you buy it. If you want new Neopets clothes, you buy it.

To be fair I know next to nothing about NFTs actual look and "functionality". I just know they're slightly stupider than the money I've spent on NC. ^{Please go with me on this I need this to be true it's a lot of money}

trading isn't The Point of the site the way it's made out to be, and is only necessary because of the exclusivity of UCs (and RWs I suppose)
the neo that raised me didn't even allow trading, and I'll never understand the mindset "I got my goal pet so what do I even do now" - enjoy your pets!

I'm more of a UC Plushie fan than an UC Royal fan myself. It's a shame that the plushies are less valued compared to Royals these days.

I find it a little silly when somebody wants a UC for a pet that they have a character for that they like to draw in different outfits with hairstyles and all that.

This one probably isn't super unpopular, but I dislike most contacts, makeup and lipstick. I often see the Big Doll Eyes and Pink Lipstick items on Aishas in particular and it just looks awful. The only contacts and makeup I like are the NP faerie ones, and the contacts that are just recolors of the pet's normal eyes instead of the creepy overly-detailed irises most contacts are.

Wigs on most pets are ugly and awkward. I'm sorry. The bipedal pets like Kacheeks, Krawks, etc? I can see it working out. Sort of. But for things like Lupes, Ixis, and Unis it's very weird looking. Like trying to anthropomorphize a feral animal.
