This year, Neopets confirmed that Shenkuu Team Captain Captain Mirsha Grelinek is gay: Captain Mirsha Grelinek mentioned that all she could think about during the most harrowing parts of their mountain top training was seeing her girlfriend again at the end of the season. I don’t have any stories this year. I’m just happy to see all love being able to be celebrated and represented. Not just because of pride but lately this past year I’ve noticed more advertising with same sex and interracial families. I keep hearing stuff about Disney introducing LGBTQ2+ characters, and I see more same sex couples holding hands in public with less gawking from others. It warms my heart. We’re definitely not where we should be, but progress is good!

A personal win is one of my students has "two moms, no dad" and all of the kids are so welcoming of this fact. None of them think it is "weird" or make him feel different. I have always made sure to create a safe space for students regardless by using inclusive terminology and being open to reminding them that all families look different, you can love and marry whoever you want, and that colours don't mean something is only for girls or only for boys. Which, at a pre-kindergarten age, is perfectly appropriate developmentally wise for them to understand 🌈
Hate is not born, it is taught. So, lets teach them love and acceptance instead

I got a pretty short undercut! I dyed it orange too - it fades out to look more light orange, but before the first few washes, it's very Beaker from The Muppets. 😂

I feel you on the haircut thing. I've always bounced around with length (or settled on the bisexual bob), but I finally got a side shave last Summer after wanting one for years. I also found a salon out here that is super queer and I just feel like I belong for once. It has caused some contention with my parents. There's been a good deal of "you're still a girl, right" type remarks. I'm growing part of the non-shaved part out a bit because like I said I've bounced around in length, and it's not worth the strife, lmao. But yeah, it's nice to feel a little more comfortable in my skin in that sense.

This Pride is pretty cool as I do some writing on the side helping to support LGBTQIA+ children and this month I'l be visiting a few schools to talk about EDI topics and Pride! I'm so honoured and excited about it. Pride began as a protest, and I feel the fight is on now as much as ever for rights, equality and acceptance, but the new generations I see coming up are gonna change the world, I swear. There are always struggles in times of vital change, representation is so important in showing kids that they are valid and important and can be anyone they want and I'm glad to be part of that.

This Pride I also want to get out and meet more of my community. Though I live near a big city my little town is a quiet place and it can be lonely here, so I need to push out of my comfort zone and get myself to some events.

As far as Neo is concerned, I'll be showing my pride by supporting Shenkuu and (hopefully) finally getting a rainbow maned candy uni! Just got to find the perfect name...

I don’t really have any personal wins so far this year. It’s been 7 years since I came out to everyone though! I grew up in a very religious home so it was very hard to do but I did it and cut out people who aren’t inclusive and supportive!
My work is ordering our business’ pride shirts and they should be here in the next few days and I plan on wearing it every single day that I work! I’m hoping we are all going to pride this year but we haven’t been in the parade since before the pandemic :/

Like Nattiee, I personally don't have any stories and the likes to share. Mostly these past few years, I just take my time throughout the month donating to different pride organizations that I usually see on youtube/twitch livestreams from people I follow.

I know it's not much, but I hope it helps out in the long run for each organization to try and reach their goal.
