Unpopular Opinions: Music Edition!

I figured this may have some interesting responses so tell me…

What are some of your unpopular music opinions?

Whether it be an artist/band you cannot stand, or maybe a song that everyone loves but you hate, or a genre that you love and others could not care less about? I wanna know what it is!

I’ll start (and I imagine this may be controversial for some): I cannot stand Taylor Swift. She just drives me crazy and I have never liked any of her songs.

I'm not a lyrics person when it comes to pop music (or a pop music fan either). I don't want them to be the focus of the song, with the music just backing them up. For me it's about how the whole piece sounds. When there are lyrics, I'm extra picky about what I listen to. Music runs deep into my soul and what I feed myself sonically plays a big role in how I think and feel.

I love symphonic, choral, deep, well layered, and ethereal compositions, but also the occasional really stripped back just vocal + one instrument that sounds like a gathering with friends around the campfire.

That is a really interesting perspective, I like it! And I have to agree for sure. If the music sounds like crap, it doesn’t matter how good the vocals/lyrics are!

I really can not stand Florence + The Machine. I'm so sorry, but she sounds like a banshee. She wails when she hits the high notes and it drives me mad.

Sorry if this offends anyone but it bothers me when people say Kanye is the best rapper of all time. In my opinion that’s just not true. He makes some okay music but he’s just crazy and his music is all over the place. Sorry not sorry

A Lot of so-called music sound like screaming and noice to me. I like music that you can hear the words or if it's instrumental that is played nice. I don't know how to explain but not stuff that sounds like a beginner trying out an instrument.

I despise K-pop. Bring on the pitchforks. I recall back in early university I think one of the groups toured in Australia and one of my friends went to the airport to have a chance to see them and I was like ??? You can tell how little I know about the genre given that I don't even know the name of the group.

Oh. I too don't really enjoy Taylor Swift's music. Though my opinion may be due to the fact a certain friend of mine constantly singing her new songs 24/7 when they came out. By the end of each period of obsession I was like please never do it again.

Same. I mean, I'm not NOT a fan but I definitely am not/would not be interested in conversing about them nor would I proactively play any of their music.

I’m actually surprised this is a thing? He’s good, but I personally would not put him above Pac, Biggie, Jay-Z, Em or like Method Man even… yikes. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I don’t know if I have any strong feelings towards music or unpopular opinions..
Oh, so I don’t love when artists recycle music. I was pretty salty when Rihanna/DJ Khaled recycled Maria Maria by Carlos Santana for her Wild Thoughts song. The level of gutted I was when I first heard it on the radio..
