Pick your prompts and showcase your love for baking and creating to all. Thanks again to the ever talented @[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] for creating the amazing (and customizable) Baked userbar! Spoiler: Fully customizable userbar with different cupcake flavours, wrapper colours, as well as icing and sprinkle colours! Your creative options are endless! Info & Rules 1. The contest runs from Sunday, May 1, 2022 until Sunday, May 29, 2022 at midnight NST. 2. In order to unlock the userbar, you will need to fulfill 10 prompts before the end of the event! 3. Show us your creations by making a dedicated thread in the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] with "Bake-Off 2022 - [username]" as the title. Please remember to include photos, the recipe(s) you used, and what prompt(s) are being filled! 4. Use the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] for discussion and commenting on peoples’ entries. FAQs (from last year’s thread [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]) Spoiler: I’m not really a good baker, can I still participate? Yes! Newbies welcome! Not every bake will be a masterpiece. Your failures count just as much as your successes in fulfilling the prompts; post pics and let’s have a laugh together. I promise I will share my baking disasters too! Define "baking": is this bake-off only for cookies and cakes? Baking is "a method of preparing food that uses dry heat", so you are free to explore not only cookies and cakes but anything else typically baked - pastries, pies, tarts, quiches, bagels, scones, pretzels... whatever strikes your fancy! I don’t have access to an oven, can I still participate? We are mindful of being inclusive -- and assuming that everyone has access to an oven is making a lot of assumptions about the living situations of potential participants. For those without access to an oven, you can absolutely look at no-bake options for typically baked goods. You can participate by making mug cakes in the microwave, crockpot dinner rolls, firepit brownies, slow-cooker bread… be creative and work with what you have. There will be no gatekeeping & no need to justify your entries or limitations. This is for fun! Can I use boxed stuff? You can use boxed cake mixes or integrate other premade products if you wish (please note this in your recipe). Or go hardcore and make everything from scratch. Whatever makes your home smell delicious and checks off a prompt! (Obviously, don’t buy croissants at your local bakery, do nothing to them, and claim them as your work; premade stuff should be integrated into a larger creation!) Can we combine prompts? Yes. Note that a maximum of 2 prompts per bake will count towards the 10 required for the userbar. Can't make it that easy for you! What does [insert prompt] mean? These are intentionally open-ended prompts so interpret them in whatever way best inspires you! More like Jello Measure with your heart: make your favourite recipe without using exact measurements Something savoury Carnival Eats: deep fried and delicious Baking, but make it a meme This looks almost too good to eat Layers and tiers Nothing is impopsicle: make a new Popsicle flavour/frozen creation Pet friendly: make treats suitable for your furry friends Can’t go wrong with a classic: make a childhood favourite Nice buns So You Think You Can Frost? Easy like Sundae morning Looks gross but tastes amazing Unpopular Opinion: something that you love but other people hate Baking on a budget: bake something using only what you already have on hand Challenge yourself: make something that you think you wouldn’t normally do because it seems too hard “What does fold in the cheese even mean?” Bake me up before you dough dough: make edible cookie dough Muffin compares to you I donut care Let the beet drop: bake something that uses veggies as one of the main ingredients For goodness bakes: bake something very healthy Life is what you bake of it: show us a baking creation that represents you Cinnamon is how I roll Cuz I’m a Crepe, I’m a Weirdough… You wanna pizza me?! AHHHH ever since i saw this event was coming in the announcements i've sooo been looking forward to this!
i haven't baked in a hot minute and i feel like this is gna be a motivator to get back into the hobby! thanks so much for hosting this event, super hyped to bake HAHA
