Really bizarre. I searched multiple websites and haven't found anything about this. Most discussions are on the topic of bots or scripting but never gaining access to accounts. Its one way to make the founders panic and secure the site even more. This is not a good look, every website is subject to weak password attempts. X's sudden lockdown of the site makes me wonder if they gained access to accounts or were pretty close.
This is some macho stuff. Very interested to see if more attempts will be made.

Update, Flightrising is being raided. You're right FR isn't very popular at all its very weird.
I theorize its an old dev that knows the inner workings of the game or possibly an older player that wants to obtain Imperial Scrolls.

I agree that KS items and G1 imps are probably the target, especially because search makes it so easy to find the imps, but I don't really get the plan other than to fuck with people. Going off what I see here, I don't imagine the market is that big? And like, people obsess over g1 imps as much as people do UCs, I follow a couple drama blogs and i don't even go on tumblr that much but i have seen more than one post that's about suspicious dragon moving.

I'm not familiar with tumblr. Dragons are being moved? Please share details more if you're able, that's interesting.
It seems asinine to attempt to steal dragons because they're all easily identifiable. FR's fanbase loves G1 imperials so they're constantly under observation. Not to mention dragon IDs can't be switched or reassigned ... Now that I think about it, there is a set quantity of Imperial Scrolls in the system. The dev would be able to see when the item is activated and the users will find the new dragon in the search.
Not sure what the raider's end game is here
Yeah, you put it better than I could re: IDs and such.
I don't have a lot of time to find specific posts, but I know there was a bunch of drama over a specific dragon a few months back and I've seen it pop up for other ones, too.

And here's the specific dragon drama I was thinking of, but again don't have time to find specific posts, but here's the tag for it: (you need an account to see links)

Makes me wonder if it has anything to do with this. Apparently it's not the first time passwords were compromised.

99% sure FR was compromised in the past. Unsure what this current issue relates to at all. Trying the same password for other sites is very common and was done a lot years and years ago with neo. The only thing that makes sense to me is that FR staff may have gotten word from a related fan site that was compromised. Think something like jellyneo user DB getting dumped and then being used to cross reference and try those credentials on neo itself. That would warrant additional security measures like the OTP sent to the accounts email addy. Other than that.. if FR themselves were compromised, they’d probably want to issue new passwords or something similar. They seem more up front and open than neo, barely.
What's my definition of success?
Creating something no one else can
Being brave enough to dream big
Grindin' when you're told to just quit
Giving more when you got nothin' left
