What are your family Christmas traditions?

My family and I used to go out in the car at night in our pajamas with some hot chocolate and drive around random neighborhoods to look at people's Christmas lights! It was a lot of fun, sometimes we'd drive kinda far and see wealthier people's homes who really did up their homes with lights.

What are your Christmas family traditions?

We don't have any big ones. We do always open our stockings first, but I think a lot people do that. Every few years we do the seven fishes thing, but it's a lot of work, so it isn't annual.

my all time favorite christmas/holiday tradition are the family that are in state get together for the day and everyone just gets drunk after dinner and plays board games. its only a handful of us every year but its always good fun!!

What's the seven fishes?

Honestly it's like...mostly a thing that Italian-Americans from the New York/New Jersey area do, but basically it's when you have a lot of different kinds of fish and sea food on christmas eve. I don't know about traditional stuff, but we've had fun with it. We got a deep fryer one year, we've made fish tacos, tuna tartare...

We also do the christmas light car ride!! There's something so much fun about going house to house.

My mom is basically a grown up teenager so our favorite thing to do is buy endless amounts of junk food and go ham while we watch bad christmas movies. I usually come home and there's a giant table of chocolate and chips... and I gain about five pounds in three days

I don’t have many, but every year we watch National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and hang a pickle ornament on the tree. Whoever finds it first gets a small prize. Used to bake cookies for friends but with Covid we haven’t for a few years.

My husband and I have a few small ones! The 23rd is baking day, we will hang out in the kitchen and get some baking done. Usually he makes his grandmas sugar cookie recipe and handles the chocolate chip cookies. I'll make the snowball cookies and some gingersnaps/gingerbreads. This is also typically the night we'll go drive around and look at the rich neighborhoods Christmas lights lol. The 24th is themed movies (National Lampoons, Elf, The Santa Claus etc) and I'll cook stuffed shells for dinner. One Christmas itself is the typical present exchange and I make candied bacon for breakfast! A Christmas Story gets put on and will run pretty much on loop all day! Thats about it, nothing fancy but its ours!
