CAN WE TALK ABOUT THIS WEEK’S EPISODE PLEASE BECAUSE I AM SCREAMING!!!!
I am posting this blindly without reading any of the other posts except @(you need an account to see links)damnit's OP
I watched Dexter through part of season 5. I really really loved the first four seasons, to this day there is a scene etched in my memory of John Lithgow as the Trinity Killer that creeps me the fuck out, it was a fantastic show. I got into the series late and heard that the ending sucked and it was so demotivating I never went further than
so my question for everyone is, can I watch New Blood without having to slog through the ending everyone hated in the original run? Is there a specific season I should go through in the original run before getting into the new stuff?

Honestly you can probably get away with watching up until the last season, so watch until the end of season 7. If you want to watch season 8, go for it. I say to get the full experience and context of everything, watch all of it before you jump into New Blood. But you *could* get away with not watching season 8 aka the last one!

TBH I think you could probably get away with picking it up right away. They reference Trinity (eta - and the Bay Harbor Butcher) quite a bit, but very few other things from old seasons. There's one major event from season 8 that you'll miss, but they cover that in the first episode. I do think the experience overall will be better for you if you watch through to the series finale. It was goofy, but I personally didn't hate it.
