‘I Could Never Abandon Them’: Neopets Users Play On –*NYTimes

There's a thing in the Arts and Design section of the NY Times on Neopets.

A devoted corps of users has kept this sparkly but outdated digital world, where magical pets have been reared since 1999, afloat. Recently, droves of pandemic-era nostalgia seekers have joined them.

Unlike a lot of the recent articles on Polygon and other places, this isn't trying to have any sort of hot take, just talks more about the comfort of returning to Neopets during the pandemic, the redesign and fall of flash, and various fan efforts.

The page itself also feels very Neopets-y, features profiles on some pets, and seems to feature a selection of BC Art in the background.
