This is the song that made me realize I should break it off with my ex. When I listen to it now, it makes me remember those times and makes me glad I left.

This song really hits deep for me, it reminds me about a lost friendship that was very important to me during my younger years. We had to split due to hard irl issues, and that is.
That was.

head's up for content about death, suicide, and grieving after the fact
I'm not really a Springsteen fan in general but this song gets under my skin bad and has become a bittersweet favorite.
I heard this for the first time sometime in the pretty immediate aftermath of my mom's death by suicide (she was terminally ill, she rolled into town one day to tell me and let me know she was ending things later that night; I had tried to talk her out of it but she had made up her mind) when my fiancé happened to play the record one night. The third stanza really touches a nerve even though one scenario is about death and the other is about a divorce when the narrator starts speaking directly to their lost person about a dream they had of them:
Both times when I've lost someone close to me I've had really vivid recurring dreams of them. This stanza could be a mental conversation I'd have with my mom, about how one night I thought she was still okay and went chasing after her only to get there and realize I was only dreaming. It's definitely a scenario that's played out in my sleep many times since she died.Last night, I heard your voice
You were crying, crying, you were so alone
You said your love had never died
You were waiting for me at home
Put on my jacket, I ran through the woods
I ran 'til I thought my chest would explode
over here oversharing because I never talk about what happened with her to anyone irl besides those involved, it makes people too uncomfortable so I just keep it pent up even if it feels cathartic to get it out of my system.

I've loved this album for years, but this particular song didn't especially strike a chord last time I was in a more folky phase. revisited it because I had to pick a few albums to recommend for something, which also involved re-listening and looking up release dates..
on top of being way too real now it was released NOT ONLY on the birthday of the person it makes me think of, but that particular birthday that particular year was probably the most meaningful day we ever had
thank you for the gay rights peo ♥ @honeycomb ♥
Some songs from my depression playlist
I learned this song in elementary school and sang it all the time at my grandparents house and my granddaddy would sing it to me in a funny voice to make us laugh.

This frog believes in you!
Right now it's this song:
I know the Dear Evan Hansen movie has a lot of issues, but the whole thing hit me HARD since I'm dealing with a lot of mental health problems of my own rn so I bawled through a lot of the movie and will probably try to see the musical if it passes through my city. The broadway songs are all fantastic too.
