NeoQuest 1 Pet Transfer Question

Hi all,

I stumbled upon (you need an account to see links) saying that it has been confirmed that you can transfer a pet that is being used to play NeoQuest 1 in one account and the progress is saved despite the pet being transferred, meaning player 1 can play most of the game and player 2 can just deliver the gem and get the avatar.

Does anyone know if that specific method still works? Would love confirmation from more recent attempts.
