nfts from an artists perspective on why i dont support them.

- nfts are being sold mostly in ethereum and crypto spaces and you mostly use crypto to buy nfts. the bigger argument would be crypto yes but its why they are in the same discussion. (i personally dont care for cryptos env impacts, that being said im sure nfts being sold this way in the future maybe handled better but for now its not and im staying away and this is my own choice.)

- Crypto adds more steps and money to be invested before you can even see any profit. so you already need money to start and benefits 0 small artists who need to get into crypto to get into nfts. to get into nfts when you can just sell your art normally on your social spaces and use regular dmca. most of the nft gold rush only benefited already established in the industry white male artists, its doing 0 for smaller artists.

-nfts are extremely hard to scrub art theft. its constantly being done and i'm seeing my piers art stolen CONSTANTLY this way and its been a nightmare for them requesting take downs and people making money off of shit that isn't theres. relating this for neopets, what is the point of buying this neopets NFT when it has 0 to do with the actual game or your account and its just a randomized image its a literal nft waste of space.

Thank you everyone who explained what these are. I've vaguely heard of them before, but since they aren't common where I live (and I barely visit more than 5 of the same sites lol), I didn't truly know what they were and how bad they are.

If anyone can answer, is there a specific group or demographic that this kind of service/item caters to? I'm pretty sure no one on Neo would want this so why introduce it...

Anyone else knows other domains owned by Neopets that we can check?

And wouldn't they fake something I guess more common to the site instead of something abstract like NFTs? Instead of faking a press conference for NFTs, they could do one saying they're retracting their decision on bringing UCs to the NC mall or something.
