For the job I'll be moving to a new city where I've always thought would be nice to live in for a couple years, but didn't seem to be in the cards. I kind of wrote the idea out of my head, so stoked to have the opportunity. But that's also scary because I don't know anybody who lives there. I've only been there twice, one for a weekend 12 years ago and again last week to find an apartment, which...another new thing.

I signed a lease for my first apartment where I don't have a parent as a guarantor (turns out, you make a lot more money when you aren't teaching). I won't be moving until closer to the RTO deadline, so probably in about six weeks, which is nice because it gives me time to settle into my new job without also trying to find furniture and decide where my art hangs and all that nonsense. But I'm really excited to do my best to decorate it and make it feel like my own little space.

I also got a side shave which I've talked about doing for years and years but just didn't do for one reason or another. It sounds silly to put so much stock in a haircut and I don't regret waiting, but something about it just feels so right. I don't know if it's just because it's just mildly edgy or sort of queer-coded or what, but I'm so glad I finally did it. I plan to add some ~fun~ colors soon, and I'm really glad to be able to start this new chapter with a fresh look. Even if the first several weeks will be on zoom and not really as impression-making, anyway.

But idk the first half of the year was kind of shitty and disheartening, but in the past six weeks things have really started to turn around. Literally starting the day after my 30th birthday after a 20s that kind of sucked for a myriad of reasons (not that there wasn't a lot of Good in them, too) one thing after another started going right. New decade. New hair. New job. New city. I'm ready for this shit.

I have no idea why I'm sharing all this. It feels way too self-indulgent and personal. Like partially is to say thank you and express appreciation re: what I wrote in the spoiler, but I think also like I said in the title lots going on, brain wants to shout (and I guess celebrate a little) and clraik has definitely become my home on the internet. Maybe this is part of what SPAM is for, anyway. Or maybe I should post this in Real Life Situations. Feels more suited for personal things even if it's not something I necessarily need support for. Maybe just some good vibes for day one? Guess I'll find out when/if I post this.

Super congrats!! I also had to move to a different city where I knew no one and had my first apartment by myself. It's definitely different but so worth it. It may seem lonely or a little off at first, but you will meet awesome people in due time. Idk what I'd do if I didn't have my friends that I met in my new town. I'm excited for you! Wowie so excited for you!!! After my undergrad I was so devastated that I couldn’t get a job in animation, it really felt like I was never going to make it. But I’m in a better place now and it just goes to show that persistence and patience is key. And gush all you want! It’s always nice to hear about other cKers lives, we are a community after all. ^^

I am SOOOOOOOOO happy for you Kitty!! I know I said this before but you're seriously one of the most hardworking, creative, and competent people I know! I really hope you flourish in your new job (and your company is good back to you) and enjoy the new area you're moving to. It sounds like a lot of change at once (new haircut sounds BANGING I need pics when you add the funky color!) which can be super scary but refreshing and motivating at the same time.
