I definitely agree with the Rocky Horror Picture Show! It is a classic and also just a favorite of mine in general.

Here is one of my other favorites!

God, but I'm a cheerleader brings back so many memories. I watched that a lot back in the day before there was much positive media.

I remember I watched fingersmith a LOT also.

Tipping the velvet was my absolute favourite for a long ass time and I used to watch it pretty much religiously when I was I dunno 15? 16ish?

I didn't know many films back then, and I don't actually watch any kind of film anymore (Unless it's star wars.) as I don't have the attention span for them.

As I said in the musicals thread, Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a favourite of mine. Rocky Horror was a formative one for me though; when Tim Curry sleeps with both Brad and Janet, young me was like, "Wait, he can do that? Nice...". I'd known about gay and straight, but having the best of both worlds was news to my pre-teen mind.

I know its totally cliche but Brokeback Mountain absolutely ripped my heart out. Movies like it are so important in highlighting the persecution LGBT+ people have faced and still face in many places.

I agree in that Moonlight was spectacular. The character development in that film is something else.

For a fun, light but somewhat serious film, I quite enjoyed The Way He Looks (2014) AKA Hoje Eu Quero Voltar Sozinho. It deals with a teen who is blind and learning to become independent as well as becoming more confident in a relationship. It is based on a (you need an account to see links) that was quite successful and worth a watch at the very least if you don't want to commit to the full film.

    Dallas Buyers Club
The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson
    Uncle Frank
    The Imitation Game

All these movies are great and tap into the lgbt+ concept at different levels. All are important and worth it!

Saw this one last year (or maybe the year before?), and it was beautifully shot and so poignant.
