What's your favorite music in a language you don't understand?

I was thinking about what might be an interesting music topic, and I landed on this. They say that music is a universal language, so: What's your favorite music in a language you don't understand? Fictional languages can count too. Whether it's a mass in Latin or soundtrack in Elvish or the whole gamut of languages in between, I'm curious to hear it. I'm currently in a choral/symphonic mood:

I appreciate how Sir Karl Jenkins composes with the voice as an instrument, as he does here in Adiemus.

Libera is a boy's choir group, with incredible voices. Don't mind the 10 second intro.

Lord of the Rings and Enya. What a stellar mix:

And a Spanish counter-tenor. I was going to list his song with Sarah Brightman, Pasión, but I understand that one, kudos to my high school Spanish teacher.

I almost exclusively listen to music where I don't actually understand the lyrics lol.

I feel like this matches the almost ethereal vibes of the songs in your post:

Don't understand a word, or I feel like I do because I speak English and German, and Danish comes very close with having similar sounds (?).

While we're in the North, I want to repost my favourite hymn:

Also, I love throat singing. Such as heard here:

    Or here:

Adjacent to that is Mongol metal:

I also like Norse pagan/folk-ish music (Nazis can fuck off with appropriating this genre!!!)

Say what you want about Wardruna, they have my respect for inviting Aurora (<3) to collaborate for this song:

    Let's go to warmer climates:

I love Tunisia so much, this reminds me of happy days there, despite the melancholic vibes of the song.

Hmm that's a tough question. I know a bit of Quenya so I can't post any LotR songs, and I really like the song Hijo de la Luna by Mecano, but I've memorized the lyrics so I know what she's singing as well Actually I look up most foreign lyrics so they don't count. But I do have this:

which is one of my favorite songs (I probably posted it before in the general music thread). They're singing in a made-up language but it sounds amazing. I wish sound quality was better on YT though.

I also love these 2, first is very famous and also made-up (some parts are French-ish though), I bet I also posted this one before, I love the hopeful and ethereal sound (and I love the movie The Lovely Bones, which used it). The second one is made up I think??? Not sure. Love the mantra like sound.

@(you need an account to see links) Heilung is amazing I know a few band members. And what's the deal with Wardruna?

Edit: oh and I must include this one too, very famous as well. Some parts are in Latin and some in Fiorentino dialect:

@(you need an account to see links) They truly are, I'm so envious that you know a few members! Their talent is *chef's kiss*. And some elitists say Wardruna is boring and repetitive in their songs, which I can't agree to lol.

@(you need an account to see links) - That first song - wow! The ethereal quality paired with that scenery is amazing. I heard that Icelandic hymn the other day - maybe here? - and really enjoyed it too! Mongolian Throat Singing is an impressive art. Fun to find someone else who listens to a bunch of music they don't understand! Nordic music has that special quality. I only know of Aurora because of Frozen 2, so thank you for sharing this! Also, thank you for sharing music from Tunisia!

@Eau - thank you for sharing. The reverb/beat on that last on is trippy!
@(you need an account to see links) - what's your favorite song in Quenya? Those are all an experience. I wonder if Hans Zimmer and Howard Shore are friends, and what their conversations must be like if so. Id love to see Karl Jenkins compose for film too.

    I think this one:

    "Et Eärello Endorenna utúlien
sinome maruvan ar hildinyar tenn' ambar-metta."

"Out of the Great Sea unto Middle-Earth I am come
and here I will abide, and my heirs,
until the ending of the world."

I think it's the heavy weight behind those lines that King Aragorn II Elessar speaks (sings in the movie) during his coronation as King of Gondor and Arnor, the same lines his ancestor Elendil uttered 1000s of years earlier, when he fled from the sinking Númenor with his people and first set foot upon Middle-Earth. The Lord of The Rings are the culmination, but so much history predates the events and it gets so much more impressive and compelling when you read the Silmarillion as well. I think the feeling is melancholy, or longing for a world that no longer exists.

Oh man all these look so dope, def gonna go thru and give em all a listen, esp the Enya ones

Ieva's Polka performed by Loituma always ranks top for me in "damn, I have NO idea wtf they're saying but it fucking slaps" despite it I guess coming into popularity from Hatsune Miku meme fame, I still think it's really cool and this performance is just amazing to date.

Also wow there is a 2019 version apparently where they performed it at one of the member's birthday concert! They're still slaying! (the vid desc also has an english explanation of the song lyrics I FINALLY know what they're singing about ahahah)

I love listening to disney songs in all kind of languages, including those I don't understand. But for regular songs, I choose those:

This one, in German (I looked up a TL once but it was very long ago and I don't remember it almost at all anymore lol)

And this one, in Korean (the only kpop song I ever liked enough to listen to regularly lol)
