I have body dysmorphia to some degree
I've never been happy with my weight but got to my heaviest weight this year, last month.
    I was 232 lbs.
    Currently down 7 lbs.

I'm a yoyo dieter so this time I'm really trying to make it a life style change.
Maybe when I have more progress I'll post some before and afters.

    Lots of motivation here.

So much motivation from people on this site!
    I believe in you!
Dysmorphia really does suck though, I'm having a horrible time with it too.

I feel good about where I'm at now to show a before and work in progress.

I think the most noticeable change is my shorts require a belt now.

I'm still not happy and have this idea in my head that I'll be happier when I'm a below 200lbs.
I just started this new workout routine almost 2 weeks ago. I like the direction I'm going. I have since changed my diet pretty drastically.
    I also cut out drinking.

I think I would be less hard on myself if I had stuck to anything I started. I would see significant changes and still fall off the wagon.
Determined to make life style changes this go around!

Feeling better about myself at least.

    I want to join!
I lost over 20kg before, but I fell off the bandwagon and got everything and more back... But in January I want to start again, but without the scale, because weighing is stressing me. Instead I only want to make photos and measuring myself.

Measuring is a great way to track progress!
Sometimes your weight can go up even though you are losing.

I struggle with not weighing myself daily. Some days I retain more water.
And other days I couldn't say why the number went up. It gives me motivation to oush myself harder the days I hate the numbers I saw.
I feel like their is an equation that works for everyone out there and it's different for lots of people.

Do what works for you! That's what I'm trying. And everytime I fail I try to ask myself why didn't the last diet work, what did I struggle with, and how can I learn and tweak that for the next diet.

I've failed on so many of my plans its discouraging. But when you find what works for you run with it!

Remember guys that the weigth isn't that important in a fitness journey!
You need to measure your fat/muscle mass in order to know what is happening.
Sometimes you're gaining weigth but is because maybe you lose 1 pound of fat and gained 2 of muscle!

Take my by the example, like 7 years ago my weigth was 165lbs(75kg), nowadays I'm 214lbs(97kg) and I'm happier, I'm stronger, and I have a lot of muscle with just a little fat.
    So start measuring that, please.

Yeah, I don't put that much stock in my weight itself because there's been so little correlation in my own past experience. Like right now I weigh a little less than I did when I was the fittest I was in my life, but I am bigger and slower and weaker and generally worse in any other traditional measure of fitness.

    ---

Getting sick earlier this year was really rough for me, eve though it wasn't COVID, I have a history of reactions to viral respiratory infections that cause reactions like long COVID. I've been slowly clawing my way up since 2011, but for a few reasons my fitness sort of wavered the past couple of years (lifestyle changes, the pandemic, et cetera). Then, not even considering that, this illness I had, I feel like my recovery timeline was set back by a few years and it's been really disheartening. I'm not back at square zero by any means, but it's still a huge blow.

In a more practical sense, I do want to slim down for my brother's wedding in a few months, or really sooner so I can buy the dresses, so I'm going to have to figure out what I can manage even with my limitations.

    So, I started again =)
We as a family were all very sick in November and then the diet has not worked at all.
And after that just before Christmas I just let go and gorged myself. Sugar addiction is real...
But that's how I found out what ares the diet did me good: Cycle, hair, skin, mood. Everything went down the drain.
Oh well, what the heck. Get up and move on.
That's why I restarted on Jan. 1 and am already noticing improvements again.
But as I said before: this time without calories and without the scale, that only puts me under unnecessary pressure.

Nice! I totally agree that you should not count calories and to not use the scale, it often gives you a lot of pressure.
What I do is eat what I know I need to eat in a daily basis. The pouns of protein/carbs. I don't usually worry about the fat.
And don't be rude with you, every step is a good step! And you don't need to be always on a diet. I usually eat healthy laboral days and in the weekends I can eat whatever I want, obviously to know the limits.

Hi everyone! Currently recovering from an injury. I had bicep tendinitis which resulted in major months of physical therapy. So now not only do i lift with more reps, i try to stay under heavy weights. i do miss pushing on plates for heavy lifting... but, i just cant with two injuries. I currently weigh 209 and wanting to bulk to 215 and then cut. first pic is of when i first started my jouirney (2011 110ish lbs) and second is current (2022-ish 209ish lbs)
