YES. Playing the newer games you sometimes don't realize how different they sound until you go back and actually listen to the older pixelated sounds. You are spot on that they are just charming!
Its super nostalgic and just hits your feelings in the best way ^-^

It would be cool if once you completed the newer games that it would unlock the alternate cries or show them in your Pokedex somehow!
