Fish tanks!

I put a nano fish tank together a couple of weeks ago. The timeline has gone something like this:

get born into a family obsessed with fish tanks > have a 20 gallon tank through high school > do not have a tank for the following 15 years after high school > incur 15 years of being pestered by older brother to get a tank > Feb 2021 (Friday) inform my brother I'm thinking of getting a small betta tank > Feb 2021 (Sunday) my brother has convinced me to get an 80 gallon instead and offers to build me a stand for it > get a 10 gallon tank anyway because IMPATIENCE

the obsession with this hobby has hit me fast good lord. This first tank was originally intended just for a jump start on plants for the 80 gallon / future quarantine tank. Then I stopped by Petsmart to grab something I had forgotten at the local fish store and saw this little blue dude in a petri dish with a bloody bitten-up fin and couldn't just leave him there, so here we are, three weeks later.

A kuhli loach! This tank is too small for them once they're full grown so I'm going to move them to the big tank once it's ready for fish.

Just checked, that particular loach is a Pangio shelfordii.

Bruh awesome tank set up, sounds like you're nailing the cycling! I had a 600L as a teen, but after a virus wiped out my fish I had to stop, it was just so much work!
Your kuhli is super cute, I love those lil guys Any goal/dream fish?

My heartfish was a black ghost knife fish, got him when he was a few inches long and over the years he grew into a 14 inch monster. I loved watching him swim backwards and upside down! I'll see if I can find a photo of him.
Another cool fish I owned was an archerfish, feeding him was lots of fun! They shoot water at their prey to drop them into the tank.

I cannot contribute much to this fish chat (had a fish when I was 4, overfed him, he died, I was devastated) and your spoiler had me particularly confused with all the technical jargon but what a fab idea for a thread! The pics are so relaxing to look at.

same goes for me, no useful contributions i'm afraid (never got further as a little gold fish in a bowl which really isn't the best thing i've learned since) but i love pics from fish tanks so please do keep em coming :o

Oh that looks very cool! I've been wanting to pick up this hobby but I don't have the space. I do have all kinds of pictures on cool tanks saved for future reference. I would want something like this. It reminds me of Lord of The Rings <3



Here's some more but it's a loooong pic so I put it behind spoilers. I think this style of tanks is called Iwagumi. I'm sure they're incredibly high maintenance though... How much time do you spend on your tank in a week?

I used to have a Beta when i was younger! I love fish tanks videos, i follow several youtube channel like Foo the Flowerhorn and watch their fishtank updates, it helps a lot in my anxiety
