Name something specific from when Neopets was in its prime that you miss:

I'll start,

1) This is oddly specific and weird, but I totally miss when people would post about being in cyber relationships with other players? I was young at the time and didn't really understand, but also I was so jealous of everyone who was involved.

Confession: I was involved in a Neopets love triangle when I was 14!

2) I miss the chat groups and lurking their boards. The one I remember most (hope I'm not aging myself here) The Preps. I remember they'd post really snooty board titles and everyone would get riled up. I thought it was ridiculous but also I felt like I was on the outside looking in & wanted something to do with all of it!

I miss the chat groups, too! I was a member of a couple and I remember wishing I was cool enough to get into some of the more popular crowd ones. I have this one memory of some people making a petition or something and TNT throwing the axe down like "you're gonna lose your chat groups if you don't stay sort of on topic" and we all kind of banded together against it.

I'm trying to think of something really specific. "old art" and "old staff" and "old DAUs" and whatever is far too broad or is more like "thing related to fact that life was simpler".

I guess bouncing off the DAU thing, I used to love looking without touching at accounts people left logged in in public computers, and at the time, so many people played, you were bound to find it regularly.

Large group RPS & RP Guilds (specifically Wolf RP Guilds)

Playing Grundos Gym and having no idea whats going on but it looked cool anyway. The other 'big games' Habi & KQ were the best as well.

The Help Chat being the place to hangout and shit post, I miss spending time there. It was a nice group of people, a healthy amount of drama and had that feeling of 'home' when id be there.

Not entirely related but from that time period for me - Buying random food items from the shops and actually feeding my pets because I didn't have enough NP to use the hotel. I mean, sure, could have tossed them into the cockroach towers with no amenities but it broke my little heart to think they were sitting in some dilapidated filth pit. So I'd scrounge up and buy cheap omelettes for them.

Neopets in its prime was when I had no idea how to play and was super broke. The boards held 100% of my attention then.

I most of all miss the news coming out almost every day and random days where new items would come out (if I remember correctly it's the Wednesdays that had a random theme). I also miss the larger userbase in general, there was more happening on the neoboards and it was more fun to lurk.

I miss new worlds coming out with unique areas that brought some new mechanic to the site. Plots with nice new artwork.

I miss the super active guilds I was in. It was great to have such a great little community within a community there.

This for sure as well both plots though i never was really good in them.
also indeed miss my old guild super active all day long (and i mean aaaaaaaaaaalll day even when i was pulling all nighters because i didn't have anything better to do as be on neo :p)

I, too, found myself in a 'love' triangle at like... 13. But I didn't know it was a love triangle - I was in it for the friendships and suddenly, hentai. I don't miss it XD


I do miss:

Guilds - I was in a huuuge 'wolf' guild with a heavy focus on RP. Never RP'd myself (maybe once, it was a sad attempt), but reading the message board on Friday nights was awesome, my guildies were a creative bunch!
Plots - Boy, do I wish we still had something to do on the site. I remember eagerly anticipating the next event, knowing it will be just as fun and rewarding as the last. These days, anything that's rolled out is either broken, unreasonably labor-intensive, or both. Usually both.
People - I miss the old community in general. People weren't as cut-throat and competitive, at least not in my 'circles'. I've met so many amazing people, all of whom have since quit, and sometimes neo just feels really lonely!
